My 2021 1140 is giving me grief. No start no crank condition. I decided that that it was the neutral interlock switch. Used the starter jumper to build enough pressure to raise the bed and look at the switch. I tested it both ways - it gives short circuit when the shifter in N and I even jumped the terminals on the harness.

The starter works fine, however,, the engine doesn't start. I give it plenty of glow plug time and try to jump at the starter. I think my fluid solenoid is not unlocking. I put my hand to the injection pump and feel no click. Do I have a dead fluid solenoid or is it supposed to off if the car thinks it is in the gear? I wonder if one of my relays is dead. Any feedback is much appriciated.

I just did some work on a D1105, the specs for your RTV1140 says that's the engine...
The fuel solenoid has 3 wires, there is a ground, and 2 other wires, one is a pull in and then a run winding. When you turn the key to start, both of those wires are powered, then the pull in drops when the key is in the run pos.
Key on, dash lights up, and fuel pump runs and the run solenoid is powered.. Key to Glow plugs, they heat. Key to start, the fuel solenoid gets a boost to pull in.
Hope this makes sense!

First, to raise the bed with the engine off, push the bed control lever fully forward into the float position, lift the bed by hand, and engage the safety stop to hold up.

Yes, if the machine thinks it is in gear, the starter will not spin. Cranking by jumping the starter at the solenoid with the key in the RUN position should start the engine.

A simple test for a won't-run condition to see if it's a mechanical or electrical problem is removing the electric fuel shut-off solenoid and jumping it at the starter. To shut it off, pull the mechanical shut-off lever on the injection pump.

The second you turn the Ign on you should hear a loud click. That's the Engine Stop solenoid pulling the injector pump rack to open/idle. If you don't hear it, then check fuses.
Check the solenoid connector for 12V.
My solenoid went bad *poof* all of a sudden without a warning.
Yes one of the relays could be bad also. There are 4 lined up in the battery compartment.

thanks! mine has a mechanical pump, so I don't hear anything from the engine compartment. I will start looking at the relays today

That is exactly what I thought e.g. I could start the engine by putting 12V on the starter solenoid, while in the run position. How do I remove the fuel shut off solenoid, by unbolting it? Or could I simply unplug it?

OK, I just tried it right now - no clicking of any kind. I think I need to dive into the fuse and relay box
