Today while using my Kubota plow I noticed that the moldboard was moving around a lot. I raised the plow and pushed on one end, and found that it had about a foot of deflection in each direction. It appears that the cylinder isn't holding the plow in the position that I set it at. The blade is about 4 years old and hasn't seen much use. Is the cylinder worn out or does it have an internal defect?

hmm, maybe the control valve is busted ??or somehow 'magically' bypassed ??
how easy is it to move......
hmm, wondering WHERE the oil goes...?

I can't see a DA cylinder wearing out after 3-4 seasons of use...

When you use the hydraulics, does the blade move back and forth like it’s supposed to? Could be the internal seals are blown or the nut holding the gland onto the end of the rod has come loose and possibly off.

yeesh, has to be a really, really bad cylinder design/build IF the internals are wore out !
agreee, raise blade level, cycle left-right-left 20 times and report back how it does....
if 'lousy', get a snowplow DA cylinder.

Raise the plow, turn off the tractor, and manually move the plow left/right so you know the problem is occurring. Disconnect the hydraulic lines for the left/right cylinder from the tractor, and try manually moving the plow left/right. The quick-disconnects should stop the flow of hydraulic fluid, so unless the fluid is bypassing the cylinder gasket the plow should not turn.

If the plow does turn check if the cylinder ram is moving in/out and the cylinder is actually the source of the problem.

If the plow does not turn there is a valving issue. I'm guessing the houses are connected correctly and moving the hydraulic control arm left/right is what turns the plow left/right, otherwise putting the control in FLOAT would allow the plow to turn.
