Only had my orange machine for a year now and I'm struck by the variety of models mentioned on this site. I know that some of the machines mentioned are past models, and I can see what their current model offerings are, but does anybody know of a handy chart or family tree that lays out how the models relate? Their numbering schemes really are hard to follow.

Somewhat related, was also curious how Kubota envisioned their various models being used so the BX, B, L, M etc product lines could be more easily discerned. As it is, a new guy going into these machines has to scratch his head and wonder "which model should I buy" (I know this has been asked before here on this site).
The info on the Kubota site is little more than marketing mumbo-jumbo so I'd love to see how the various models stack up in a practical application.

Anybody know of a good source for this sort of info?
TIA

Kubota does not seem to provide much help in this respect. This is the closest I've found. You can click on a link for a model number that you want to learn more about. Once there, you can follow the links near the top to find some of the related models.

So, here is my tractor. And I can easily see that the previous model was the B9200, and the B1750 was the next smaller. Doesn't connect them all, but helps figuring out some of it.

Ah, I've never noticed the 'previous' and 'series back' links on that site.

Thanks for that, good tip.

EDIT: actually I see what they've done: not all entries have all the links but a machine could have a "series next"/"series back" which shows the machine's siblings (but I've also seen a "smaller" link). Furthermore, there's also a previous/next model that shows predecessors/ancestors.
Guess that site just needs a bit more rounding out of it's data is all.

Thanks for the link to the data site I've wondered the same thing as Zippy. the model #'s don't follow any logical pattern and are confusing to us newbie's to kubota.

This is interesting. I too am new to tractor ownership, and shopping was confusing. And especially comparison shopping to other colors of tractors.

Sounds like you got the gist. It is frustrating that they don't have more connections, but it's the best I've found.

Even the clowns at the local shop (some good guys, but mostly clueless clowns) don't know how the numbers relate models and models to models. The only thing they MIGHT know off the top of their head is the current models, or even just what's actually on the lot, and frankly I doubt some of them even get that much.
