Hi every one i am New on here.
I am trying to run a log splitter on the back of the tractor which is really needs a direct return to tank to operate properly, have temporarily put the return hose in the filler hole but this is not ideal.
Is there a plug in the case i can fit a fitting to then a hose up to a Quick connector so i can run this properly.
Thanks in advance.
Sorry Model number wrong way round should be L3540 II

Welcome to our little worldly group! As for your name - if you own a Kubota, you have have at least some good common sense!:p

Reply back and tell us - WHAT tractor model you have - and even a picture would help greatly.

I would take it that there are no rear remotes on this machine?

Where did you tap in for the pressure side of the splitter?

Hi 85Hokie
There is a set of remotes which i am using for the pressure side, with the remote operating lever jammed over so there is full flow. But if i use these for the return the splitter works but at full retract or full extend the splitter seems to lock off so i have to reverse the lever in the tractor to get it to work again.
but if the return hose is dumped directly back to tank these does not happen.
The log splitter has it's own valve block.
Please see images.
Thanks

Has no one fitted a return to tank extra line on this type of Tractor before ?
Would love to hear any ideas or suggestions.
Thanks

Please go out and read the number of the tractor again as that is not an L3450

Hi Have checked number got number wrong way round see attached
I thought that might be the case. 😜

When you have 2 ports on the back like you do, when you engage flow to one port the other port becomes a return, it will flow back anything that goes out the first port.
Are you using something to hold the valves lever in the fully open position?

Hi, yes two ports out back and yes holding the lever fully open with a bit of wood !!
This works connecting this way but the splitter at full extend or retract locks up like it is getting fed from both ways, so i have to release the lever and reverse the flow, then start again.
But by using only one side of the port with the lever locked over with the wood and the return hose from the splitter put in the filler hole of the Hydraulic tank it works great as it should.

Hi Thanks for your reply.
They are all metal tubes as in the pics below.
Thought there might be a blanked of plug on the case i could put a fitting into but can't see one.
I've circled a banjo fitting. Is it the tank line? If so, it looks like there's enough room to stack another fitting using a double banjo bolt. You would need to find a banjo fitting with hose connection.

Is that a plug at the lower center of the picture? If so, where does it go?

Will try and find out if that is a return pipe.
The plug at the lower center of the picture i removed and has a spring in it so must be a relieve valve or something.

That plug is a safety valve, there really isn't a good place on the cover or piping to add a return, the fill port in the rear is a very good location ( you can get a plug with a port connection, or another good option is to port in a connection to the bottom of the case on the mid pto cover, there is a drain plug there that works very well to attach a return line too.
You could also use any other drain ports to accomplish the same thing.
Very few models have extra plugs for porting into the return and adding another line and fitting on a banjo is only good if you's 100% sure if that path is direct to the sump which most are not.
If you port into a line that goes to a bad path, let's say a path after the filter you could damage valves or the pump.

Hi Wolfman
Thanks for a great reply, would you happen to know a part No for the plug with the port connection ?
As that sounds a great idea, and dealers are useless this side of the pond for any info !!!!
Also if you have a pic for the drain plug in the case on the mid pto cover.
Thanks again.

Have now solved the issue by making a fitting to go into the filler hole,
Not having a lathe, i made out of a 30mm digger bucket pin cut down witch fits the filler hole exactly then drilled a 16mm hole trough the center,
Then welded a 1/2" BSP collier on it, then drilled a hole at 45 deg in the side then soldered some brake pipe in it then bent up and down to act as the vent. then fitted the quick release fitting as you can see.
Thanks everyone for your input was very helpfull.

Adding on to what Wolfman said, have a look at the pto cover (under the shield. On my M's there is a pipe plug in each, just above the fluid level. My loaders both have the return lines plumbed into that fitting so you could (if you have that, tee in there. It's a direct return to the case for fluid.

I suspect your valving is release (return to neutral) under pressure (pressure sensing) so when the splitter cylinder reaches maximum stroke, the internal hydraulic pressure returns the remote valve to neutral.

On my M's (I have 3 sets of remotes on each, one valve is that way but the other 2 are float which is no return to neutral under pressure.
