Kubota L260 - Oil Filter removal dilemma

This L260 tractor does not have the standard spin-on oil filter mounting
assy. that one would expect. The internal disposable oil filter element is contained within an oil filter housing held on by a bolt.
My owners manual says “The oil filter element can be removed by
""loosening"” the bolt to remove the oil filter". Loosing the bolt on the
outer/enclosed end ( the right side) of the oil filter housing does allow the housing to ever so slightly separate from the mounting assy. (left side/ open end of the filter housing).
But the filter housing is still being held internally and under spring
tension. If you continue to loosing the bolt, it will prematurely stop turning and rests against the engine block. The housing is loose (under a spring
tension) but neither end of the filter housing will let go or swing away
from it’s position.
I was assuming the bolt ran thru the entire housing/filter, but I must be
wrong ! My replacement element itself has a center opening which you would assume would be the same diameter as the bolt, but now I have second thoughts. Since the bolt can only be “loosened” (just as the manual says) the filter housing still remains loosely held in place under a spring tension. What’s holding things together?
Please advise on how to remove this oil filter housing?
I don't want to remove the filter housing and the mounting boss together just to get the filter housing off!

Not sure of what you have there. A picture would help.
Sounds like the element might be hung up on the bolt.
Perhaps a sharp tug could free it? I wouldn't go banging on it too hard, until you know what you have.

L21m60 someone else will jump in that has a l260 I AM SURE .:( But is it possible since the bolt is not comming all the way out the previous owner had it apart and lost the original bolt and put a different (longer one) back in. I would wait til some with a l260 jumps in. Once I had to cut a bolt off to get it off a manifold and replace it with a shorter one. Someone will jump in shortley.handy

I found out why I was having the problem removing the bolt that holds the oil filter element housing in place. It's just to long! The thread’s of the bolt (which is basically a pipe) does not separate from the filter mounting prior to the bolt stopping against the engine. Until I convert the oil filter mounting over to the one that accepts a spin-on oil filter, I’ll have to remove both the oil filter mounting Assy. and the filter housing at the same time or shorten the “pipe” eliminating some of the threads.
