Kubota no longer makes a generator for the L260 tractor. I'm looking for 3 things:
1. the actual part number for the generator,
2. an aftermarket source for a generator,
3. or a generator/regulator pair that will work on the L260.

I've contacted Arp to see if they can rebuild it, but I've gotten no response.

Thanks.

Find a modern one-wire alternator and do whatever it will take to mount it to your engine. Most likely parts to repair your original generator are obsolete.

I agree. So far, a generator made by Harley Davidson (12V 10A) seems to be my best bet. I might try to rewire the tractor first. Thanks. It has the 3 wire design like what's on there.

If both are 3 wires it might just be as simple as just rearranging the wires. You will need a wiring schematic for the HD generator and the Kubota that is it replacing. I know you referred to the HD as a generator, however, an alternator would be the better choice. Check out your local pick-a-part for something from a small car. You just need to find one with a grooved pulley rather than one that uses the more modern flat fan belt.

The picture in #3 post is a real generator ! field coils, brushed, armature........
Be very careful about using a 'one wire' alternator as RPM is critical for them to function. You'll probably have to reduce size of pulley to increase it's RPM to get to charge properly.

I’d convert it to a one-wire Delco alternator such as used on old N-Fords conversions.
