Wondering what kind transmission fluid you put on.
Is it ok to use universal tractor transmission fluid or should be 80-90 gear oil?
Thank you

Universal tractor fluid is acceptable. UDT is acceptable. 80-90 gear oil is acceptable but not as good for hydraulic operation.

Replaced axle seal and reassembled the final drive housing and axle.
Didn't buy any gaskets but just put permatex ultra black gasket form which I have used many years and good result.

Most challenging was to take off and install the bull gear nut.
I had heavy duty air impact wrench with 1 ½***8221; socket that I bought couple years ago for removing bush hog blade bolt nut.
It was perfect fit to remove and put it back.

Other challenging was one of other side axle drain plug was stripped because wing was not thick enough. Had to weld to the ½***8221; deep impact socket then set up maximum torque and triggered.
It came off right away and replaced new left and right that were much thicker wing.

Other thing was engine oil filter assembly that was replaced to spin type filter(used one) and cleaned oil pan and screen that made more oil pressure and no more warning oil light on even low idle about 500rpm(used be light on even 700-800rpm when engine warm)
Also added a muffler

Operated for an hour, no sign any oil leak.
Now, my little toy is ready to cut bush in the spring time.

Thank you for helping and will updating continually if something came up.
John

Good Deal ;)
Glad to hear everything went well.:D
Hi, Bill.
I have tiller, mower, and blade that came with tractor when I bought.
I am try to find out about tiller model and availability to buy some parts.

It was working condition and all connecting devise are intact and previous owner wrote 1501 number on the top of tiller
But in later discovered one side shift is missing and leaking oil from shift. Other than that it is good condition and usable.

I was not interested to repair the tiller because I have small garden and having BCS 715 tiller that is enough to tilling my garden.

But whenever I saw the poor tiller lay down on the ground It makes me sad :(:(
Hopefully, I can fix then sell to person who needed
Thank you
John

Hello, Members.
I couldn't believe having another problem. But don't want giving up yet.
Suddenly, the hydraulic oil is leaking from clutch housing that coming from the rubber seal between the main gear shift and clutch shift.
While I am preparing to split the tractor, your any advice appreciated.
Thank you
John

2) the inside clutch housing has 2 rubber caps far transmission side(picture2) What are they? Should I replace them too?
Your help will be appreciated.

As far as the clutch disc you probably just need to measure it, and compare it to the thickness either 1 in the book if it is in there or
2 to a new one

The rubber plugs do not need to be replaced unless you are either replacing any of the shafts in the transmission or if they are leaking.

I'll check when I get home and see if I have the measurements for the clutch disc I'm not sure if it's in the book or not.

Hi, Bill.
Thank you for replying.
I found the disk thickness requirement (If less than 0.3mm (0.012
inch) of facing remains beyond rivet heads, renew clutch disc)

Do you have rubber plug part number?
I couldn't find it from L175 parts book.

Thank you so much your help.

Found the rubber plug(bearing cover) part number at transmission gear section in parts book.
The part number 34150-21650
Question is that plugs are 40 years old and concerning leaking oil near future.(I really don't want to split the tractor again :):))
So while the tractor is splitted, I like to replace both of plugs, seal o ring as well even clutch disk.

Do I have to access to the transmission housing to replace the plug or just take off from clutch housing then replace it?

Thank you

There is no access from the transmission side, the bearings prevent that.
The plugs were a very tight fit when I replaced the main shaft
and a PITA to get out, but it was do-able.

I understand wanting to do it while it is apart, and I probably would also.

Hello,
Finally replaced all seals in the clutch housing and clutch disk only.
Now having problem the clutch.
Since replaced clutch disk only, the clutch pedal is very soft and weak and couldn't engage any gear even adjusted between the release lever and release bearing as recommended.

Is this problem came from the only disk replacement?
Should I replace clutch Assembly include pressure plate together?
This is first time big frustration since acquired the tractor.
Your help will be appreciated.
Thank you

Finally figure out what was problem.
It was my fault that didn't follow up to the manual.
What it is that from contact surface of lever to friction surface
of flywheel equals 45.0-46.5mm.

So turned the adjusting nut to clockwise almost end meaning the release lever move to the release bearing

then adjust the clutch pedal as described on manual.

The clutch works perfect.
Hope no more leaking any oil
Thank you:):)

Is this a picture of your transmission?

If it is, the balls will be under the 3 springs on the top.
and transmission in neutral and shifter in neutral will let everything line up.
That is a picture of my transmission except I have worn grooves where the shifter contacts them. I don't have any gears engaging anymore' trying to find replacements for my L 1500 DT.

My son's buddy is a mechanic at a Local Kubota deaper that is trying to help me out.

So I took parts diagrams from Darin and I can not source these parts from Kubota? Huh!

Can anyone point me where to go in Canada?

Grey market dealer about 1 hour North of me, Yellow Rose Ent., I know sounds cool!

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
