I have a around 1998 l3400 hst and the shift into 2 and 4 stopped today, i have lo and don't want to force the lever as the last time (3 years ago) i had an hst issue and forced the lever it cost 6400 to fix at a kubota dealer. Any things to check? The engine runs fine, the fluid is good and it was working in 2nd earlier with no problem The tractor has minimum use on it and never gets beat on so the second time having a hst problem on less that 500 hours is strange.

Will the 4x4 lever move ? Is it stuck in low range ? The front wheel assist lever and the hi/low range lever are two different levers, which one is causing the issue, or both ?

The lever for moving from lo to med to hi is stuck in lo, i got it out of lo but wouldn't go into med or high. i am going to crawl under tomorrow and take a look at the linkage, the hst on this unit isn't normal to other people ownership i have had a major rebuild less than 60 hours ago and it's binding again-of course out of thirty day warranty at the dealership

500 hours since 1998 is very little use. If you haven't cleaned and lubed the linkages periodically (H-M-L, 2wd- 4wd, PTO, parking brake, etc.), they will collect crud and seize up or become hard to use. Using the tractor often and working the controls keeps things working. Keeping it parked out in the elements makes it worse.
