Kubota diesel zb14-nb

Hello, I am new to this forum, I have looked everywhere on the internet with no luck on trying to find information and repair parts for a Kubota Diesel ZB14-NB
It is a 2 cyl. Industrial Diesel Engine made in Japan from what I gather. I am trying to find replacement parts for an Amish friend of mine who uses this to power his line shaft that runs his equipment. Any help or info. would greatly be appriciated.

Do a search of the net to see if you can find a piece of equipment that used that engine. Then you have an equipment model# to do more searching with. Especially if you can find a tractor with that model engine.

Sorry can't be of more help. Unfortunately I'm not knowledgeable enough to know of any particular model off top of my head.

upon further search.... it's going to be hard. Seems to not be used in US or goes by a different model # here.

it appears that it was made in Japan, and I saw that it was used on different types of equipment there in Japan..but I can no longer find the images I saw it used for..I do remember it was used on a generator and some type of walk behind mower..maybe for cutting a rice field(just guessing that one)

Here is one of the hard things to tell people on engines like this, they are one year disposable engines, they do not make replacement parts for them, of if they do it is very hard to get them outside of a dealer in Japan.

I checked a few part numbers, valve/rocker/piston and these come up on messicks as available, however I used the part numbers without the -1 on the end and messicks automatically put a zero, so if you speak to a parts place and try a couple of parts to see if they actually correspond, you may be lucky. Good luck!
On a side note, I wonder why Komatsu would be using disposable engines in their equipment?

sending along a picture of the unit in question..also the valve pic. is the piece trying to replace. does anyone know off hand if the valve is rebuildable by replacing o-rings..it drip fuel there.

So the replacement parts for the engine you want, is the only problem you have is a dripping fuel line/tap/filter?
This is a standard kubota type filter/tap assembly and would certainly be available, or something from another model would fit in the same place I expect, may have to reroute fuel lines or extend depending on what you can get.

I haven't ever pulled mine apart, but as with a lot of fuel tap assemblies there is usually an oring seal that can be replaced. First thing I would do would be to unbolt the filter and totally degrease the engine, and in an around/behind the filter, then compressed air dry it off, then investigate where the drip is coming from, as it may be running down from a hose above onto the tap.
Then if it is from the tap, do you see the little screw to the right of the tap, coming in from the side, I expect if you pull that out it will allow you to remove the tap and replace the oring. Sometimes they are flat /square orings, but even if you can't get that exact one, a round oring in the same place will usually cure the problem.
I the housing is cracked, then search around the net for something similar or take it to a large Kubota parts dept and try to get one, or someone here may have a part number for a replacement.

Yes it is, there is a screw on the side that will let the valve come out.

There is a lot of Japanese equipment that is one year use equipment, that is the way japan stimulates it's economy.
After a year you either must sell the equipment, Usually for scrap, or pay a very high tax to keep it, most will not pay the tax.
Because of this companies like Kubota and Komatsu will make JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) equipment that is built cheaper, and will not offer spare parts for them.

Thanks everyone for the replies, as I said in the original message. .this belongs to an amish friend of mine and he was thinking about just replacing the whole filter trap. The motor is his only means of running his equipment and I don't think me was wanting it down for a long period. He has built a new addition to his shop and has made a new location for the engine and was wanting to fix the leak before putting into the new spot. I am stopping today and will
mention all what has been brought to the table. If it was mine, I would be pulling the trap off and tearing into replacing the orings. .by far the cheapest and easiest fix.

The O-rings will be metric.

Pulled the petcock out of the housing to check out the o-ring. . The petcock itself is the problem, there is a small groove manufactured into the petcock, which is where the screw on the side holds it in the housing. The groove is worn allowing the petcock to not seat properly and drip fuel. I'm going to post a picture of the petcock, if anyone has a clue on where or who to contact, I would greatly appreciate. The fuel filter is manufactured by TAIYO GIKEN there in the business for making fuel shut off valves. .etc. I was able to search taiyo giken and it is a large manufacturer in Thailand. There was also a link to a place in California, but when I called the lady said they don't sell parts. .contact your dealer. I wanted to tell her I don't speak or have any contact information in Thailand.
