My forklift has a Kubota D1402 engine in it.

I small fuel leak has appeared. It seems to be coming from around the plate that the throttle linkage goes into.

Is there a seal or a set of gaskets that need replaced? Other?

Thanks in advance.

That 1000% can not be fuel leaking, there is no fuel there, motor oil then maybe.
And if your getting oil being pushed out there, you better check the crankcase breather, because it's plugged up.

Nope not the air filter
It's inside of the valve cover and has a hose running off of it if non emissions.

There is a piece of metal mesh inside (like a scouring pad) unless it was left out over the years.

There should probably be a hose on the tube that goes down the side of the engine to exhaust below the engine. That is where the blow by gets out of the crankcase.

OK, I see that piece on my valve cover. Do I remove the valve cover and clean it? Sorry for all the questions. I am pretty new to this.
Yes you remove the valve cover and clean the filter.
It may or may not fix your issue.
You may still need to take the control plate off and replace the O-rings on the shaft.

Thank You. I will see what happens when I clean it.

Thank You for sticking with me on this, I know us new guys can be irritating. I will clean that screen then power wash the engine off too see if the leak persists.

You might not want to use a power washer on the engine. It can get water into the wire connections, alternator and starter and cause some issues. Just avoid using the tip of the wand too close to the surface around the electrical parts and connection, if you do use it.

I prefer some type of degreaser and a hose or something with less pressure.

I have seen a product called purple power or something like that, Do you have any suggestions for a good de-greaser?

“Zep” makes an entire line of products for cleaning…Lowe’s carries their line. I use their “orange” degreaser but most use the much stronger “purple” degreaser.

Purple power works well, Zep works well, even dawn dish soap will work as a degreaser. I've heard simple green can react with some metals, but i'm not 100% sure. I've always used dawn but I just picked up purple power and it seems nice.

Zep has some acid based products that changes the finish on aluminum but they also have less aggresive cleaners similar to the Purple Power.

Gunk also has engine degreasers that work well.

I use Zep Purple and Zep Orange all the time.

Purple will tarnish aluminum parts but it doesn't hurt them if not left on too long.
