Kubota BX 25 Bucket hooks, are these any good ? which style?

No,you can't do that. It's WAAAAY too simple! That's not allowed! You need to make it more complicated!



Does a chain slide in the slot okay? Looks a bit tight.

I do tend to over complicate designs but in this case I went simple-but-effective. A 3/8” chain fits in fine. I wanted them out of the way for my homemade forks that hang over the top lip of the bucket.

For my needs, a bucket bracket made the front of the tractor usable beyond bucket work, without having to switch out the bucket for something else. When I needed to move a trailer the 2" receiver slid right in and I was on my way. The rings (grab handles) are great for snapping strap hooks (or any hooks) onto. The bracket's hooks accept chain. Installation was easy, construction is solid, it's spendy but reliable and reliable gets the job done (as compared to "budget" stuff off Amazon--generally from China--that breaks).

I have a question on that bucket bracket. I'm concerned about the receiver height. I currently use a clamp-on receiver that attaches to the bucket lip, and it does get the job done, but it's not great if I have to push a bit on a corner. It tends to slip.

That bolted on bracket would be a lot simpler and stronger.

BUT! Is it low enough? Sitting at the top of the bucket like that makes me a bit skeptical of being able to get the hitch under the trailer tongue.

I have a military trailer (M101A1) which has a higher hitch than most trailers, and I'm not sure it would even work well with that.

How high is your trailer hitch and how has that worked out for you?

How high is your trailer hitch and how has that worked out for you?

I have to put a 6" log under the trailer's crank down wheel so the 3500# trailer is high enough for the ball to fit under. It's not ideal, a drop receiver would work better for me

Thanks for the info. Maybe a drop hitch would do the job, but I have not been able to find one in a pintle hitch configuration, just ball hitches.

Would something like a Buyers #PM812 in combination with a #10036 or similar work? We use the adjustable pintle mounts on our trucks at work so we can get the hitch dialed in and keep the trailer tongues at a "standard" height.

That would probably work. It's massive overkill, though. My trailer is only rated to 3600 lbs. A 6 ton pintle is a bit more than I need.

I put 2 hooks and 2 d-rings on my LX2610 when I bought it. Have never used the d-rings. I mounted the hooks in line with the curl cylinders. A year or so later, I mounted a 3rd hook in the center between the other two. Lifting something with one chain, lifting from the center of the bucket, rather than the edges, is more stable on the tractor.

Yes it is more stable to lift from the center. But the center of the bucket is the least strong part of the bucket lip. It’s better to attach the chain each hook in line with the lift arms where the bucket lip has the strongest support, then pull the chain and hook to the center of the bucket and attach the hook to the chain so the chain drapes down the center of the bucket.
