Kubota Blue Paint

A few weeks ago I was at the dealer picking up some parts and asked about a quart of Blue Paint,
computer showed none but he poked around and found an OLD quart. Must have been "at least 10 years old, thats when we moved here".
He gave it to me for half price / $16.00, opened it today, irregardless of what the label says. It was Orange! and had a cam bearing in the can!
(I am guessing that is not normal!)

So I still need a quart of Blue Paint, looking around on the net I see Tallmans AG Specialty Coatings, any idea how close this is to the original Kubota,
Or should I stick with the OEM?

I'll keep the Orange and put it to good use.

I can't speak to how close Tallmans AG Specialty Coatings will match. But personally, I would stick to the original Kubota blue. I've used it in the past and it is good paint.

I agree with L4740, by the time you do all the prep work I wouldn't want to HOPE my paint job was the right color!

The factory paint is more money, but it goes on easy, covers good, and has a durable shine.

On this subject, those of you who have sprayed Kubota's paint, how did you go about it? What do you use for thinner or reducer? I've tried to spray it in the past and had zero luck with it. Unless it was in a Kubota aerosol can.

The blue is still available in aerosols through kubota. I just bought a can from a dealer local to spray my G1900 engine.

So, having said that....... is there a difference in quality / durability between the Kubota "rattlecan" and the "quart/reducer"?
I know it would be easier to get into nooks and crannies with a spray can,
BUT, I do not want to have to re-do this anytime soon, and the quarts are considerably more cost effective.

Bill, I am not a painter! I'd rather take a beating then paint anything.

When I was working on my L305 I had no option but to do something. I have a friend who is a retired auto body man and still works in his shop at home. I asked him for some coaching.

Here's what he told me to do: "4 parts paint to 1 part hardener. Splash of reducer so it will flow through the gun."

I do have a nice gun. So I got the hardener at the local farm store. About a 1 pt. can cost about $15. Had compatible reducer.

I actually sprayed the wheels first (for practice) then a few days later I did the blue.

That looks real nice, I also have all the painting stuff, including reducer and hardner.
Guess that is the route I will go. I do not see a left side pic, is the clutch pedal blue?
Is there two different blues, or is everything the same, can not tell ( phone )?

Some acrylics need to go on extremely thin or they won't spray, so if it looks like you never strained it and has lots of globs in it when you spray it (even though you strained it) thin it out more, really thin. YMMV
