Hi all. I had this issue for a long time and read a lot of good stuff on this forum. However no one was able to offer the fix so I thought I'd share my experience so others in the same boat can benefit.
A while back my tractor suddenly lost power in forward and reverse. It would not climb much of a slope and I could not use high ratio at all. When the machine refused to move at all there was a nasty wine from the transmission.
The most common fix is to clean/replace the wire mesh pick up filters that are located either side of the lower main case - where the oil lives. This did not help but it HAS HELPED MANY.
In my case I gave up trying to fix it and lived with a slow week tractor for a long time. I live in Spain and there were no Kubota work shops or talented mechanics to diagnose the problem. The main suspected culprit - after a long chat with Kubota - was the charge pump
Finally after a LOT of asking around and following up leads I found a John Deer mechanic 150 Ks away who would take the job on.
This was a good move. These little tractors are easy to transport and professional tractor workshops - not lawn shops - have no fear of splinting tractors in half and this guy soon found the problem. A crack in one of the wire filters had allowed dirty oil into the pump assembly. This had engraved fine lines onto the two valve plates - forward and reverse - allowing high pressure oil to escape . The guy decided to replace the plates, some seals and the charge pump, but in the event the two plates and seals were enough to get the machine back to full working order. This was a good thing as the charge pump sent from England was for the wrong machine and didn't fit !
Whole job around $1600 which was well worth it. I could not have replaced the machine for that !
So if any B1550 B1750 owners need a new charge pump at a discount I'm your man.
So my advise is always to find a pro tractor shop with a lot of experience and a good rep from happy clients if simple linkage/filter cleans don't work.
