Kubota B600 - engine issues

I understand the B6000 has a Kubota ZL600 engine, what other Kubota engines will fit without too many issues. (Happy to move engine mounts and radiator forward - more concerned about bellhousing connecting)?

The present engine runs, but does not hold water as it runs in to the crank case (I don't have any other info at present). Would this be a simple head gasket issue, or something else?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)

could be a head gasket, could be a freeze plug, could be a cracked block, chances aer its one of the first 2 but you won't know untill you tear it apart.

Hi Drew,

Thanks for your reply.

Are there plugs between the crankcase and water jacket then? Or is your comment an educated guess (very reasonable)? I'm not doubting your knowledge, just trying to gain specific knowledge on the engine.

Any thoughts on different engines please?

Thanks

Be careful when looking for a replacement engine if needed. Make sure there is a drive for the hydraulic pump. If you put a longer engine in you will have to lengthen the hydraulic lines. Since you can't use it the way it is I would tear it down and see what the problem is.

wow Vic, you must have read my mind, i am just about to embark on just this same project.
I am going to attempt to retrofit a D750 engine ass from a b7001 into the B6000 i purchased a few weeks back in a scrap yard.
I've spent ages doing the calcs and parts referencing etc, cant say for sure how its going to work out though, all i know is that i have all the parts here ready, just need to fix it all together so it works.
i keep you all posted shortly with pics etc.
