Received the B2650 tractor this past week and have put 6 hours on the machine snow blowing a runway (2700x50), plus did some removal around some hangars.

I noticed when I put the tractor away, there was a lot of soot on the front snow blower. Does this happen all of the time? It was easy to get rid of, but made a mess of the snow blower. Spent 30 minutes cleaning it up.

Any thoughts?

PS: I love the factor cab. First time I have ever plowed snow with awesome heat, listening to classical music from London! (I was able to connect my phone to the radio installed in the tractor). What a hoot.

How much is a lot? I have the same tractor and a front mounted blower, and it gets some soot, but nothing like what you are describing. What rpm are you using? Does the tractor smoke otherwise?

Don't have a 2650 but do have a 2601 with the same issues. Picked up a piece of exhaust pipe with the appropriate bend and attached. This changed the outlet to a more downward angle. Not perfect but a lot better.

No smoke when operating the machine. Today used it some and it is not as bad. Will see what the next snow storm brings, if we ever get any snow here in Maine.

I have a BX. Runs perfect.

For 7 years, I get soot on the snowblower, the left loader boom, etc. :)

I don't think you're alone....;)

Some guys have re-routed the exhaust to help. I don't mind it that much.

Remember you cant lug these motors ,meaning they dont do well if they are not revved up. You might want to review the engine RPM and how hard you are pushing the blower, heavy wet snow will bog it down taking more fuel and creating more soot. You wont see it but it is there slow down on the attack and keep the RPMs up

Here is what I did on my BX.
Skeets gives great advice.

You can see the soot on dlsmith's front brush guard from the muffler before he changed the exhaust pipe.

That's what I have on my blower and loader arm, and I keep it at the proper RPM, per Skeet's advice.

You're going to get soot on anything in the path of the exhaust on these little diesel tractors. I never lug mine, it's always at least half throttle when I'm using it. I also check the air filter regularly.
You get a little smoke when it starts and you get some when you open the throttle, unless you open it slowly. Not a big deal.

When I was on the grounds department for a local school district and we set up our green tractor for winter use each Fall, we attached a piece of flex exhaust tubing and ran it our the back of the tractor. No soot, no stink.

Same thing on my B3200, FEL and Blower. Spray on Spray 9 and Power wash off after the season. Let dry and grease it up for the summer.

the diesel is blowing out mor soot that it looks like in daylight. I cut grass at night sometimes, you can see in the lights a more soot coming out that you can’t see in day time.

Murphy’s oil soap and a paper towel takes it right off

I have had my tractor for nearly 20 years, and this has been a constant issue. The short forward pointed exhaust hits the loader&frame nearly all the time. Whenever the tractor is under load, and with all diesels under load, you will get a heavier exhaust. Just a part of the game. It essentially condenses/clings to cooler/wetter things. Putting an exhaust extension or reroute makes total sense and I think that I will look into that.

If tractors were designed like cars, the exhaust would be piped to the far rear and you would have to completely replace every 2-3 years. :)
