Hello I am new to purchasing any tractor and found a B1700 on Facebook marketplace listed not too far from me listed for 11.5K. The owner doesn’t know the year and says there is 1740 hours on it. It comes with a Gannon box, no ripper teeth it seems like, and the front end loader. The owner recently serviced the engine replacing filters and rebuilt the cylinders for the loader. Owner also says the hydraulic lines are decent on it. I haven’t had a chance to get out there to see it. I have just over an acre of property which is all dirt and rock. The purpose of the tractor would be to mainly deal with overall maintenance of the property due to erosion from the monsoons. Any help is appreciated I don’t know if this is a good price or not it seems like most used tractors are listed pretty high lately.

Welcome to OTT!

I think we have a few B1700 owners here on the Forum.

I'd suggest using a few websites as resources:

TractorData.com - information on all makes and models of tractors

Can also check for other B1700 tractors offered for sale:

Used Tractors for Sale | Machinery Pete

New & Used Farm Equipment For Sale | Tractor House

Used prices vary widely by region. What's reasonable in one place may not fly in another.

My gut says $11.5k is a little steep for my area, but may not be so in AZ.

It all boils down to how good is the tractor.

Looks like the loader bucket has had some rattle can improvements, and maybe it's been bent up a little. Not deal breakers.

Be more concerned with the service history, fluid changes, etc., and whether the tractor actually operates as intended.

A tractor with 1740 hours is going to begin needing parts.
Parts for a 24-28 year old tractor will be problematic.
Many/most (?) parts will show as "NLA" (no longer available).

Thank you for the reply. I love the tractor data website that has been super useful figuring out all the specs. From the other sales websites it seems like the tractors are mostly in the 7-8k range. I think the guy selling it flips tractors to some extent, he has had quite a few sold over the past 9 months or so. It will definitely be easier to judge it once I can actually get out there to view it.

Not sure about that price, seems high, but it appears to be clean.
My only comparison is that I bought my B7100 (1300hrs) in 2011 for 7K. (in AZ)
Came with FEL, Backhoe with (2) buckets, pallet forks, Gannon box blade (with rippers), 60" front plow blade, (2) fuel cans, spare parts, (bunch of filters, glow plugs, (2) extra tire tubes) delivered to the property.

Damn I would kill for that package right about now. That’s a solid grab.

If the seller is flipping tractors it does raise some concerns/awareness in my opinion. Probably explains the rattle can job on the bucket.

He doesn’t know much about the maintenance history and is going to send a video of it here shortly. My assumption at this point is he flips tractors. He says he is a heavy equipment mechanic and works on various tractors daily when asked about maintenance.

I feel like when I look online for most older tractors places like Steiners have a ton of replacement parts. Is it not the same case with the Kubotas?

Parts will be the "luck of the draw".
I very much doubt that traditional tractor junk yards like Steiner's, have much of anything specifically for little Kubotas.
$11.5K is WAY over priced, for that 24-28 year old tractor, with 1740 hours!
