Hi
After finding great inspiration and joy in this forum for months, I finally decided to return a little, by showing my new, but rather old tractor, bought in this summer, and the construction of front linkage, gone rather amok.
Here is a picture from the happy owners journey home with the wonderful small machine.

...maybe even to fast.
A day later I broke a finger sanding an axle on the lathe with rubber gloves on.
In fact I damages 9 fingers in the attempt to free the stuck rubber glove hand.
God I felt stupid:(

Amazing nice metal work and fabrication you've done.

Hope that trail on the floor is not more blood:eek::D

No blood was ever wasted. Just a lot of building time.

Next unplanned event in this little story is, when I finally got the little beauty on the bike lift to mount the freshly painted front linkage, I just could't mount it on the ugly rusty frame.

Back to the rubber glove thing, like heavy rubber gloves or like surgical gloves? I wear nitrile when using my lathe but am extremely cautious when polishing shafts. I saw a video of someone getting caught up in a much larger lathe-it was scary.
My little old southbend likely could do some damage, i treat it with respect.

I like your progress on the tractor, that front hitch will be very versatile.

Easiest way to clean a shaft at work is to run the motor, and then hit the shaft with Emory cloth. I always rolled up my sleeves and just caught the cloth with my finger tips. Had it catch and file down finger prints but no injury.

Guy at another location wore a pair of gloves. Shaft snagged the glove and ended up with broken fingers and three bones in his hand. Was very lucky he didn't get sucked into it

Medium strength gloves with rubber coated palm. After a few hours use you do not feel any friction from robber what so ever, but with just a little heat on a spot outside the sanding paper, it suddenly sticks momentarily. The whole hand get caught and the second hand coming to the rescue as well.
Eventually both gloves were shredded, but a little too late.
Rotating machines; no hair and gloves, I learned many years ago.
The hair issue has been resolved by time:)

Man that was the first thing they taught us in shop No gloves rings watches anything that might get snagged,, Im glad you were not hurt to bad, but things like are one heck of a wakeup call cause we get just a little bit distracted of complacent. And just so you know,, I think this one hell of a nice build :D
