I paid 14k for this tractor and i am thinking it is junk. Bought brand new from a dealer. Has worked for 4 years, as soon as it has been paid for, of course, and now is dead in the drive and has been since last June.

It started out like it wasn't getting fuel. Dealership picked it up, several hundred dollars later, parts, labor, delivery it still did the same thing only worse. I will never go to a dealer again.

Now, after two filter changes and a fuel pump change, with no difference, we are thinking of some sort of mold or fungus in the fuel tank.

How do you remove the orange housing to get the tank off for cleaning? I don't know what else to do and the people who are trying to help me have run out of suggestions. Thanks.

How long does it sit between uses? Wondering if you are getting water in the fuel. When ever I finish running mine, I always top off the fuel in the tank to drive out the air / potential moisture.

When we changed the fuel filters and fuel pump, the lines were bled. Maybe a gallon in the tank. Added fresh fuel. When I drove it around the yard, operating the mower, I ran into the same thing: engine shook, rattled, and died out. I am at a loss. All that money for equipment to sit all winter long. Had to pay to get plowed out.

Anyway, we ran through that option. All we can think is to take the tank off. Getting the blade adjustment handle off has us stalled. Didn't want to break it off. ???

Since you mentioned mold, it could be algae in the fuel. I've never had it myself but it does happen. There are biocides for it. I know they sell the other flavors of PowerService at Walmart, not sure about this one or not.

Try biobore if you think it's a mold problem. West marine sells it online. It doesn't take much. We use it at work and it cleans the tanks good

Sounds like it's just in need of some maintenance to get it running the way it should.
If you leave the tractor sit for lengths of time , battery tender and fuel treatments will help.
It's not real hard to find out if the tank is the problem, pull the line going to the fuel filter and if fuel runs then that not your problem, I would lean more towards a plugged filter or bad lift pump.

I had a tractor dies problem several years ago. Wife related. She was fueling up and in the middle of it went inside for a few minutes. After that the tractor would run and then not run. Sent it to the dealer. No problem, sir. Still wouldn't run right. I finally pulled the fuel tank and found several wasps in it. Problem fixed. I have locked the keys up for all of my equipment every since.

To try to figure out how to take it apart -
Tell us the specific model number - I tried to look and there are several model numbers that have 1860 in them (BX1860 ?)

You can go to Kubota.com - then to parts, illustrated parts list, agree to the legal stuff and then search for your tractor model and look through the different sections to get an idea of the parts and how they go together.
