Hi everyone, I,ve got a question about engine power and compression. The information I have reads a" L2201 has a 1115cc engine and rated output of 25hp",, a "L2002 has a 1300cc engine and rated at 24 hp. How can the smaller cc engine have more horsepower? Also, if i wanted to, How does one increase the horsepower in an engine without turbos or any fancy gizmo,s? One more enquiry, Why does a 300 hp japanese engine have less grunt than an american 300 hp engine even with all the bells and whistles attached on today,s trucks??

Thanks All.

Kieth, not enough space and time to answer all your questions.
A 7 liter eng can have 200 hp or 2000 hp, depending on heads, cam, compression, intake, exhaust,, etc.
Although engs are rated the same ( within a class), two identical vehicles will perform differently. This is where raceing started, " why is your car faster than mine, we have the same eng?? Let's take 'em apart and see what's different.)
A dirty air filter is the most common killer of power on diesel engines.
