Hello All,

Thanks to all for the prior post that I've been pouring over en route to my decision. We just closed on a new place last week with 10 acres, so I definitely needed something. Decided on the BX23s. Lots of trees to manage and of course mowing, landscaping, and snow removal from the long driveway. Can't wait for delivery. Momma got the house, I got the tractor!

Congrat's on both new purchases! Looks like a great spot, and your BX should soon become your favorite tool.

I'm not too far from you, over in Hocking Co. off 664S, near Old Man's Cave.

congrats!

Whatever you do......rtfm ...(read the manual) ....and be careful!
Do things much slower than you want to ---- get use to the feel of the machine.

All of us have a story that applies to "our new" tractor......not good ones either!

I would highly suggest some rear spacers.......and a skid plate....and while I am spending your money....a toothbar up front too!:D:) All of these are in the insurance category.....things needed to keep from boo-boos and making life easier at the same time. ;)

Be careful of tree limbs and the ROPS on your tractor.

The limbs can catch the ROPS and try to turn the tractor over.

Yup, been there. :) Instincts that are good when you're walking are not so good when tractoring.

My big take away is that tractors are big powerful machines (even when they're a small tractor). Assume that if you put body parts in the way you'll lose them. And assume that any part of your property (house, walls, fences) that the tractor touches will be broken by the tractor. I only had to fix a few things before I learned to start being careful.

Oh, and even if your chipper blocks up a lot, it's still better to stop the tractor before clearing the blockage. I learned that too.

Unfortunately, if you're like me it takes a few incidents before you learn you're not actually bullet proof.

Paul, your stories reminds me of a friend who, at the time, was 6' tall and weighed about 275, all muscle and worked on construction all the time. He had a 200# calf he needed to get in to give medicine to. He went out in the pen and was going to gather him by his feet and tie him so he could work.

That calf turned him every way but loose! Neither wanted to give up, but my buddy finally did. An animal has unimaginable strength when trying to be contained (much like a tractor). I still remind him of that rodeo, and remember it for my own benefit!

Congrats and welcome to the forum. Lots of cool accessories for your new ride and lots of great people here to answer your questions. +1 to 85Hokie on the tooth bar and rear spacers. I put both on my B3200. If you are blazing trails in your woods, having that tooth bar out front will help to get rid of that little stuff for ya.
