Hello all! After years of renting and borrowing I have become a huge Kubota fan. I have a small acreage in BC and have been mostly using my neighbor's L3400 but decided it was time to get my own. I am on a limited budget with a growing family so I splurged $7200(cdn) on a L245DT with FEL. It has 1970 hours on the clock, and has been a local tractor. It's got a slightly cockeyed look from a previous owner dropping a log on the hood, lots of faded paint and rusty spots, but she runs beautifully.

I had to search long and hard for a reasonably priced little tractor in BC. $10K barely gets you a decent tractor most of the time, so I jumped on this one. Thoughts, tips, tricks?

I love my Kubota as I am sure you will enjoy yours as well.

If the fluids have not been changed lately I would do that sooner than later. A good service will keep her happy.

Enjoy her, post some pics we do like pics here.

I've been reading plenty on here, and now I find out I am not to use the decompression knob to shut it down (contrary to what the previous owner told me). The key switch doesn't shut it off, so how else is one to shut down properly?

There should be a lever to shut the fuel off. Down by your right knee. Might have some red paint on the end. Lever is connected to a rod that goes up the the injection pump.

Congratulations on your new tractor, I was in my 60s before I could buy a new one, but the old ones still get used; can't seem to wear them.
