my unwise brother decided to use my G1800 to jump start his Jeep Grand Cherokee. he started the car, but when disconnecting the cables he took the negative off the kubota and hit the positve cable on Kubota. There was a big spark and the kubota kept running but would not shut off. he says he turned off unit by flipping something under hood behind throttle. And now the kubota shows zero signs of life. No dash lights . No sounds and obviously wont start.
He has replaced the largest fuse and says there is continuity in other fuses. Please help. im dead in the water. thanks in advance.

Not familiar with the G1800 but first, make sure your battery is OK. Second, check for a fusible link. It should be neerthe battery and will usually be a wire with a fat section tagged as a fusible link. They will usually blow to prevent damage further down the electrical system.

Well in the case of Kubota, the FL may look like this:

The FL is the fusible link. It will look like the above picture or it will be a wire with a thick section that is usually tagged . If it’s not tagged, follow the positive battery cable. Sometime it is a second wire coming off the positive terminal. Look around the fuse box as well. I’m not familiar with the G1800 but most equipment, cars and truck have a fusible link to protect against a reversed polarity situation.

By “FL” he means “Fusible Link”. Check yours. It may be “blown”. You can make/repair yours by clipping the wire loop on the plug and installing an in-line fuse.

If your brother replaced one fuse and said all the other fuses were okay I'd start by checking the fuse he replaced then checking all the other fuses. I don't know your tractor so I don't know if it has a fusible link. If you get your electric system back you might ask your brother to show you EXACTLY how he shut down the engine. You may have to reverse that process, too.

Again thanks to all. Ive at least identified the FL. And the part is on order. Thanks again!
Was it blown or burned?
I have a green slow blow fuse above the starter that rotted internally from water intrusion 2 weeks ago.

Hope that takes care of the problem. sorry I couldn’t point out exactly where it was but I’m not familiar with the 1800. Hope that solves your problem.

I am assuming that you tested the FL and verified that it was open. Please report back with your results.

Likely cause is a blown "fusible link" (near the starter) whose purpose is to prevent damage from crossed battery cables (no joke!) New ones are a few bucks - or a U-loop of house wire will work temporarily.
