My backhoe on my L2501 jerks so bad when operating it that my teeth are loose. Is there a way to feather the movements to smooth it out.

Couple things, based on the fact i know nothing of the condition of the machine.
Just starting off ,i would say lower engine rpms will slow things down to make them easier to feather controls.
The hydraulic pressure is still there, but slower.
I found resting elbows or adjusing seat will somewhat give you better control.

These little machines need a gentle touch fir smooth control.

My buddy calls me "Lurch" when im running machines.
The little cat excavator in my yard is rasier to run than the older backhoe at former place of work. Configured to excavator control pattern makes a huge difference for some operators.

DO all the movements do this or just one? My swing is the worse when it comes to jerkiness.....if I move to many handles at a time things get a little jerky too.

The machine is new and it seems that extending the hoe out and swing is jerky. My tach has a yellow mark at 2250 so is that the rpm that all things should run at? Also the black knob under the drivers seat is that for hydraulic flow that would affect the hoe?

That is entirely too high of RPM in my opinion. I have a Woods 7500 running off the tractor hydraulics and normally rpms are 1200-1600. I agree with the others RPM only increases flow rate, not pressure.

2250 is rpm for 540 pto speed. It hurts nothing to run slower. I would say lower rpms to something you feel comfortable at. The kubota ay my previous job- superviser would run engine balls to the wall, insisting it had more power. Not the case, that hoe would lift machine at idle. He wrecked lots of stuff.
