Jack up the tractor??

I am a newbie to this great forum but I have been around tractors all my life. I recently bought a new BX1860 for yard work and moving stuff around. Great little tractor. My problem is removing the mower deck. The manual says to turn the boggies, lower the unit, then release it from the lift arms, then roll it out from under the tractor. Tried that but the arms do not raise enough to disengage the mounting eyes on the deck. The only way I can see to get the deck out is to jack up the rear of the tractor enough to slide the deck out. Something tells me I am missing something somewhere to make this easier. The attached picture shows my dilema. Anybody have an easier method?

avnut look at the operators manual one more time and notice you have to put the deck height gauge on 1, and lower the hydraulic control valve all the way down ( 1/4" from your gauge wheels touching the ground) turn your wheels all the way left, lower the "front" deck linkage and remove ( put some card board down on the floor to catch the H link when you drop the bevel arm ) then pull the L pins on the rear deck linkage and leave them in the recess with the Springs compressed ( make sure the roll pin goes down in the slot and stays on both sides ) then restart the engine and raise the linkage above the deck bolts . I have actually taken the steel "S" connectors from rubber bungee cord ends and bent to hold the arms up out of the way. Remove the quick connect shaft coupling and tie down to the rear deck then slide the deck out the discharge side adjusting to and throw between the wheels. This is the exact way I pull my BX2230-60" deck off. I flip it up and tie it off and chock the gauge wheel with heavy rubber wheel chocks so it won't roll backyards and put about 85 lbs air pressure in my air ratchet and pull the blades and service as needed.

Thanks, OB1Kubota. I have been through the manual a couple of times. They only discuss attaching the deck. I have reversed their procedure but no go. I tried your idea of holding up the lift arms but there is only about a 1/4 inch of play up and down --- not enought to release the deck eye bolts. I also noticed that even if I could get the arms high enough to release the eye bolts, the eye bolts will still hit the frame members that run along the drive line. These members hang slightly lower than the lift arms after they are raised full up. That means that the deck is still too high. I can raise the deck boogies one more notch to lower the deck further but that makes the lower deck lip drag on the floor when you try to pull it out. I guess I am back to the jack unless someone has a better idea.

avnut48 are your gauge wheels all the way up in the deck? Don't worry with turning the gauge wheel side ways on concrete. Makes me think something is wrong with the height at which the factory set the deck stop bolts???? At this point I'd get her up on ramps and looking at the tractor frame and linkage. In your photo the lift linkage should lift completely up in the slot bracket attached on the frame rail. It went on there at your Dealers shop so it will come off without a jack. Just keep studing the problem and it will come to you what's out of adjustment. Before I'd use a jack to remove the deck, I'd use ramps to change the blades with a 90 degree offset air ratchet and be done with it.

Hi Avnut48,
Something is definitely wrong here. I have never had problems installing mowers on a Bx1850. Is it possible you have the wrong wheels installed?
There should be a couple of inches clearance in there!
And KJJ, I have to agree with you! The mower deck on the B1750 was a b#$^h ! B tractors are considered more commercial/contractor type units and are not nearly as user friendly as the BX. We don't sell many B tractors from our dealership.

Then highlight Technical Service and submit the needed information on your BX1860 Deck problem. I guarantee you, if you take the time to do this, a Kubota Service Engineer will contact you in a matter of days with answers. My local guy is Dennis Hood in the Southeast and he told me its is part of their job to answer "ALL" owner questions involving use of the product. They will answer you as quick as a Dealer may be quicker

My BX1850 is the same way (can't roll the deck out from under). I usually only take the deck off at the end of the season, at wich point I put the loader on first and use loader down force to raise the front of the tracter. This gives me ample clearance to then roll the deck out.

I'll try and check this weekend but I am still not sure that my 2006 BX1850 will have the clearance. I'll try to double check this weekend. It could use a grease job and clean anyway.
