Man it is hot already, the thermometer says it is only 71 on the back porch. It sure seems a lot hotter than that, weather channel says real feel is 79 and it is headed to the mid 90's. My poor little AC window shaker is pumping its heart out. OH well I guess it is that time of year now if I could only get the corn to grow,, what I replanted is only about an inch high,, freekin wabbits got a bunch, and now there are a bunch of wabbits sleeping in the garden, that should help the corn grow, right. Maybe it will rain some tha might help but I doubt it will, so I guess I will gave to water the garden again..
OK Im all done winning, sucks this getting old

Stay cool. We have been in the upper 80’s for almost a week now. Start the day with 60-70% chance for rain and by 3pm it is down to 5%. Storms popping all around, just none here. On the upside, the wheat is drying nicely and should be harvested here in the next week. Once that is done I can drop a line of dead ash trees and pull them back to the firewood yard

It had been brutal here in western Oregon, 115 on Sunday and 113 Monday, but Monday afternoon it dropped from 113 to 93 in an hour and was 75 by 9pm. It has been super dry here too. Only a matter of time before fires.

The kids complained of The heat the other day.

I reminded them that we live in the south, and it’s summer.

They didn’t appreciate the insight.

It was only 91.

They have all been popping up at my house. About an inch or so of rain every day. Yesterday’s came in 5 minutes. Just cleaned eavestroughs and screens over downspouts since some of the water was winding up in the basement. Off to mow wet grass before it rains again. We were having a drought, but not now. Just in time for haying. Those people that baled at end of May probably got nice hay. The ones that said no I’ll wait a few more days are gonna have rank stemmy hay.

Pleanty warm here in Maine. I had heat pumps installed a couple yrs ago in my welding shop and in my residence. Getting older and lifting the window AC in and out was a PIA. So I spent the dough. No regrets. Welding and working in 69* temperature is a dream. Your not fatigued working from the heat.
And sleeping at night. The heat pump head is whisper quiet at night.
The temp gauge in my pickup yesterday was 100*.
I'm guess my ex-mother Inlaw is buying the gold bond by the 55 gal drum in this weather.

Was nice here this morning. Was 72° and 98% humidity. Now it's 91° and 78%. Wife and I had pulled 1200 ears of sweet corn by 7am. Then I hoed 1/4 acre of okra, and sprayed 1/2 acre of peas with a backpack mister. In now to cool a bit and eat a fresh tomato sandwich, then out to mow a while. I'm getting too old for this.

So hot the truck is sweating:

THEN I get to my job. Been laying a block foundation this week in this heat and direct sun. Been taking a lot of water breaks and left work early even. So this morning the customer complains that we leave early and not getting much done.

I packed my trailer and left, some people.

Good luck and stay safe in the heat.
So far it hasn't been too bad. We have about 13" of insulation in the attic and pretty decent windows. House when we get home from work is about 79°.

We have a mini split heat pump on the sun porch. So we opened the window to the porch and placed a commercial fan in front if the door. We'll kick the fan on when we get home. A second fan to blow the cooler air towards the bedrooms. We've been able to get the house down to 77°.

The AC repair man will here late morning tomorrow. Hopefully it's something foolish and simple and we can get the ac back up 🤞🤞🤞

Normally at this time of year, we Canadians sit here smugly reading about how hot it is in Texas or California, etc. and our southern neighbours laugh at us when we complain about what we consider to be a heat wave.

This week, a new Canadian record of 49.6°C (121°F) was recorded in Lytton BC. For context, the highest temperature ever recorded anywhere in the world was only 7°C higher, in Death Valley, over 100 years ago.

No wonder the ice caps are melting!
