My issue is with Erithizon dorsatum. The little #%^(^$+'s chew up my hemlocks, killing them as well as crap in my barn. I am told they also chew on tractor tires. They nest in an abandoned house next door which is filled with quills and feces. Wife thinks they are cute and refuses to let me "remedy" the situation. Fortunately, we are not yet living at that woodlot site so when she is not there, there may be an accidental episode of "acute copper-jacketed lead poisoning" occurring.

We have a fur missile as well but quill extraction in the middle of the night is not my idea of excitement. LOL.

They also seem to like rubber brake lines and hydraulic lines. Copper jacked pills work well to remedy the situation. Lead slug .22's also work, and are generally quieter than their big brothers.

N.Y,
I made a sign for my garden after they learned to climb the 6ft high woodpile and jump down into my garden.

A clip of 22 yellow jacket hollow points solved the problem one at a time.

I used to get my first woodchuck (ground hog south of us) in the third week of March.

Bagged a lot of them by May 15, when the grass was tall enough to hide them.

.22 bolt action with silencer and night scope. Sounds like a dry fire, but it ain’t. If you have coyotes like we do, they’ll carry it off to thick brush for the dirty work of cleanup. No one will ever know unless you tell them. 😉
