I own a 1988 B6200d with the RC60-72 mower run via the front pto clutch assembly. I removed the mower deck tonight to do some repairs to it, and briefly started the tractor to move it out of the way. Suddenly heard a horrible banging noise coming from tractor and immediately turned it off. It appears the front part of the driveshaft (connected to the front clutch and PTO, cirlced in picture), was spinning wildly while the tractor was running. The clutch was disengaged, but there was just enough friction on the belts of the front clutch, to cause the driveshaft to spin......My question is, when I have the mower deck removed (lets say for winter), do I also need to remove the whole front PTO clutch assembly?
