Is Top and Tilt Worth It?

On a little machine you can reach behind you in the seat to turn the turnbuckles!
I like the top and tilt for the ease of adjusting on the fly, and the addition of the rear remotes for future implements.

What would be an example of a premuim setup?
Picture in post #5 and as already mentioned, when the implement is level font-back and side-side, the cylinders are at mid stroke.

This provides an equal amount of adjustment in any direction from the level point of the implement.
The majority of T&T sets sold DO NOT provide this capability.

My experience with T&T on three tractors is that as good as the FRH products are reputed to be, I've not run into a situation where only being able to rotate the implement in one direction is a problem. By far the most useful for me is the hydraulic top link and the fact that with T&T I can adjust the QH from the seat to connect to an implement. I run a land leveler/land plane or box blade on 400 yards of gravel driveway and my current set up works great for me.

All that said, many of us like options and like to think that we have the best mousetrap out there. If I were doing this again and not wanting the dealer to handle the installation, I would certainly look at FRH.

FRH kits are a minimum 22 weeks out... Must be good, but Im not inclined to wait that long.

Summit Hydrualics makes a kit that has the front 3rd function and 3 rear remotes for $1,450. DIY installation doesn't look all that difficult and probably take 6-8 hours.

Kubota OEM is $1,300 for the 3rd function and just over $4,000 for 2 rear remotes and the top and tilt setup installed.

I'm leaning toward the Kubota OEM components and having the dealer install them before I take delivery because (as one would expect) they give the cleanest setup, and would all be under one warranty should there ever be a problem. I also assume that it would be more desirable should I ever want to sell the tractor for any reason.

Do yourself a favor and read up on the OEM rear remote issues as well as the Summit issues.

Best to know about the issues so that you are not surprised, then pissed off.

IMO there is only one reason to go OEM and that's integration and aesthetics. On an L01 that is minimal - the factory remotes are half assed and I bailed om them as soon as I got a good look st what my money was going to get me. The third function is pure third party.

That said I would not use one of Summit's (or anyone else's) electric rear remote kits. A three spool manual valve works better and costs less. You can spend a little or a lot. I have sold a lot of kits with Summit valves and no complaints.

When it comes to third function the biggest issue is the replacement joystick handle with switch. For what they are they are ridiculously expensive. If you can live with a cheap rocker switch lashed to the OEM joystick you can do it for pennies. The valve and plumbing is generic and easy to put together for less than the cost of a turnkey kit.

The final hurdle is the TnT cylinders. Those are much harder to replicate. Look at Brian's offerings to see the difference.

Congratulations on your tractor and you will love it. I went third function & grapple and do the dance with my BB & borrowed rake. It was a matter of budget. I am saving for down the road and prob will just do the top but getting by so far.

YRMV and note that I leave my BH on most of the time
