Just a hint, an observation from 40+ years of observing bovine behavior, any time a bovine tilts his head like that, and looks at you with both eyes, separately, he is measuring you up for a fight! That shot in the air would have been better placed, 2' in front of his feet, also. Second round would have been between his eyes, had I been in his place. Although I wouldn't have been in his place, cause I wouldn't have tried following him in the first place!
I have had over 100 wildlife encounters, deer and moose. Moose that were too close for comfort,scary at night. They hard to see.
Deer have been plentiful,i try to pay attention at night when passing through the popular hangouts.
This year deer count is down, last winter was harsh. No snow this year, easy pickings for wolf/coyote.
