RTV X900 rebuilt fuel injectors do not thread in completely. Put in new cup shape heat shield and new copper washer. I start threading in the injector and the last 10 threads or so it stops tight. All 3 thread in about same distance, 10 threads from being all the way in. I'm not pushing past really torquing them in. It feels pretty solid. Any idea what is going on?.

I guess that you had to hand over the old ones and now cannot compare?

Are you sure you got the old heat shields/seals out of the holes? Also they do have a few threads that can stick above the head surface where they screw in.

Of course. However, I do have another rtv 900 I can use to compare. What should I focus on?
If they came out freely there is an issue with thread length, pitch or quality. I would try to retrive the old ones so they can be compared. If they appear the same, a machine shop can measure precisely to find the difference.

I will try to get the original ones. I looked at the injectors on a different rtv 900 and they are not threaded in completely. By that I mean I can see threads above the surface that are dirty weather worn etc. So. I'm assuming it is "normal" since that other machine has not been disassembled and runs. I pulled one of the new injectors and see that the copper washer is seating. Still apprehensive to proceed.

Pretty sure I mentioned it was normal for a few threads to stick above the head surface, and you still haven't said that you double checked for the old sealing rings. They can stick in the Injector bore and go unnoticed. Then you add another sealing ring and they don't sit down as far as you think they would.
