Hey all,
Just wondering if anyone has any insight into splitting an L2250 , Mine has been sitting for around 6 months, and the Release Bearing seems to be frozen, I cannot actuate the clutch, it is stuck in the fully engaged position,
I have tried the obvious things , I just got a scope to see inside the bell housing thru the breather tube access point on the right side of the tranny, (after removing the tube plate) I will try to use a thin pry bar (only about an inch clearance between the case and the Daul Clutch that is just inside the port, also hoping to be able to get to a grease zero that I see on the release bearing, But not to hope full, (but maybe I'm wrong)
If that doesn't work , I will need to split it, So I'm looking into getting info. into doing that when I can get to it,
Thanks in advance for any insights into this problem,
Thanks,
Mike M.

Have you tried propping or tying the clutch down and running it around in high gear, up and down hills? Usually the problem is the disk sticks to the flywheel or pressure plate, not that the pressure plate won't release. The idea is to put as much torque on the clutch as possible.

Some people run them against an immovable object. I'll leave that procedure to others.

Yes I've tried the obvious stuff ,yesterday I scoped it and it is rusted completely ,It is apparent it has to be split,

WOW ! You get 2nd place though. MY A-C D-14 bell housing was JAMMED full of 'mouse house'. I'll try to find pictures of it but NOT for the faint of heart !!!

FYI when splitting do NOT use cinder blocks !!! ONLY use solid wood. If you have an overhead I-beam, 2 trolleys and chain hoists make 'splitting' easy and safe.

Wait a minute here. Are you now saying the tractor was flooded (as in underwater?) six months ago and has been sitting unused, and (mostly) unattended since? And you're here hoping for a quick fix, magic bullet solution? You have bigger problems than a seized throw out bearing sleeve.

I bought a tractor with a similar problem. It wasn't in a flood, but water leaked from the a couple freeze plugs, got into the oil pan, froze and busted the pan. I split it while setting outside. The tractor had a weight on the front which I did not calculate and when separated it did a nose dive!! Here's what the clutch looked like.

When you separate the tractor have the rear wheels blocked and a support under the transmission. Be sure to have a block of wood wedged on both sides of the engine and the front axle. If you neglect this the engine will flop to one side or the other when unbolted.
