Usually I’m an advocate for wearing the seatbelt on slopes, but around a pond like that probably wouldn’t want to be strapped to that thing if it loses traction and slides into the water. YMMV…

I've been thinking of doing something similar to cut down my cattails only I'd use the hedge trimmer while sitting in my Jon boat. I don't see any cattails in your photos but don't all ponds have cattails?

Did you have to use this while cattails were young and more tender of will the hedge trimmer cut down full size cattails?

The way to eliminate cat tails is to cut them a few inches under the water line. This smothers them.
