Hi guys!

I found this picutres on the net:

In the future I maybe also want to switch to industrial tires. Is this possible on the B1600? Which rim and tire dimensions do I need? In my opinion the back tires one the pictures are too wide . At the moment I have Ag tires with 5.00 x 12 at the front and 8.3 x 22 at the back.

i just bought a b3000 in november and it came with commercial tires. i want to chang to a fatter turf tire like the ones in the above pics. i do nothing but spray with the tractor and the tires are so small that the machine feels top heavy when i get on slopes. ive read that changing rims and tires would cost around 2000.00 the problem is that im having a hard time finding a dealer in my area that sells that type tire or rim to fit on my tractor.

I grabbed my old tire thread because I am still thinking about switching to R4 tires. My actual rice paddy tires are tearing up the lawn like hell and I really don't need that much traction.

I searched the web but as it looks nobody ever changed rims and tires on a B1600. I am not sure how to start this project. I don't know how to find out the gear ratio neither I have an idea which rim and tire dimensions I need to not destroy the 4 WD. Would it be useful to measure the rolling circumference of the actual tire combination?

I would really appreciate any helpful input!

Thx a lot!!

The very first thing you should do always when trying to switch sizes and or tread designs is measure the rolling circumference ( unless you can get the tire mfg data for the EXACT brand and size you have ) of what you have on the tractor now that works correctly. Then and only then should you start looking for options you prefer as far as tread design etc. Word of caution from experience: you may have to buy rims in order to get the tread design you want to end up with the correct ratio to! Never simple NEVER cheap is what the end results are when the factory didn't leave you a simple option to change.
Do your homework well and you'll avoid the pitfalls and expensive repairs before you spend your money.

Today I found time to measure the rolling circumference of my actual front and rear tires:

the 5.00 x 12 Farm Service Lug M on the front has a circumference of 1807 mm
the 8.3 x 22 Farm Service Lug S on the rear has a circumference of 2987 mm

If I divide rear by front I get a ratio of 1,65.

Can this be possible?

In this thread I found similar numbers for the B8200 which seems to be a close match to the B1600.

There is nothing I can find in a 22" wheel.

Here's your problem as I see it-

You'll need to change wheels size to 16 or 24.......most likely a 24" wheel/tire.
If you go with a 16 you will have a RC of 106"-

If you go to 24" you will have a RC of 130"-
http://www.titanstore.com/info/48D804

You now have a RC of 117"........to increase to 130" you will need to balance that with an increase at the front tire/wheel. Maybe a 14" wheel and a 26" tire........you'll need to work out the numbers.

Whatever you do it won't be cheap........minimum $2K US.

BTW I know you are looking for R4s.........the above is just and example of tires that I'm familiar with as I've looking to make a similar change and been looking for answers myself.

The fronts in R4s may limit you on the rears.........There is a 23x8.50x12 R4 but the next jump in size will likely be a 15" tire and may be too large.

The hunt for the right combo is exhausting.....but you'll find it.

I searched a little trough the web. Only as an example:

the Goodyear 12.4-16 4 SureGrip Lug TL has a RC of 110 inches
the Mitas SK-02 / 23x8.50-12 has a RC of 66.5 inches

this would be a ratio of 1,65.
