For security reasons on my 2018 Kubota T2290 I wanted to wire a kill switch so I grabbed some primary wire and a two-prong toggle switch hooked the positive wire to the red with white stripe wire that went to the ignition and I grounded it to the frame but when I went to start my tractor the wires sparked and now it won't start do I have to a new wire I tested the starter it works but I need some guidance.

Why would you ground a positive wire?
You've probably blown a fuse or fried a fuse link.

All you need to do is break the circuit wire in wire out, on the switch, for it to cut off the ignition, no grounding should happen.

It's a mower, for security reasons, it needs to be locked in a building.
A thief is just going to roll it away, they won't start it.
Unless your worried the grand kids might mow the lawn when your not looking, I would drop the idea that a kill switch is going to give you any security!

I worry about where you live, where people carry butter knifes around with them stealing lawn mowers from the gas stations!

If mounting the switch shorted it out then the switch is bad!
There is a bank of fuses look at these especially the 40amp maxi fuse to see what has blown.

I don't have a wiring schematic for that model, so where does that red/ white wire come from and go to?
Did you cut the wire and put one wire on each side of the switch?

Is this a gasoline or diesel model?

I have attached a wiring diagram and my tractor has a 30 amp maxi fuse red/white wire that goes to the ignition key switch and i do not know where it comes from but i do believe its the solenoid. and that's my issue i was thinking the toggle switch as a rocker switch so one was ground and the other was spliced into the wire and its the gasoline model. I'm thinking i should fix that but replacing the wire and then putting in the switch correctly

Guess that no one is going to steal it now. Sorry, I can't give you guidance without knowing exactly what you cut and what you did with the cut wires. Pictures might help to figure this out, however, no warranty is provided for the free help.

No matter what you grounded (except the black wire) on that start switch, the
15 amp fuse (at least) is toast. For a "kill switch" you might try a SPST inline with the orange wire, and physically hide the SPST switch. This advice is offered with no guarantee, and "at your own risk".

Ok you need to leave the red alone!
Reconnect it back to original state.
You need the orange wire that goes to the solenoid remove from solenoid connect to one terminal on the switch, connect the other terminal on the switch back back to the solenoid.
You have now a cut off.
AT NO point do you add any grounding to the switch, besides to mount it.
Trying to switch the main power is probably too many amps for the switch that you have and it might be for the solenoid wire too.
Do you have the specs for the switch?
