Hi all,

My L2850 seems to idle a bit rough, the idle seems to low as the tractor shakes a bit and the idle seems to be jumpy. I don't have and RPM gauge. Is there anyway of adjusting the idle on these tractors? Does someone have some instructions to do so?
Cheers.

Make sure you have adequate delivery of fuel to the injector pump. Your problem could be fuel related.

Most of the hydro mechanical injector pumps(IP) have an adjustment screw to set the low idle speed and the high idle speed. Does your tractor have a tachometer that works? if so start the tractor up and let it come to operating temperature. Look in your owners manual for the low idle setting. Place the throttle lever in the top most position and follow the throttle linkage to the IP. the lever that the linkage is attached to should be sitting against an adjustment screw. Turn the screw in the appropriate direction to set the rpm.

If you don't have a working tach, you'll have to get one that either touches the pto shaft or a strobe light type. Baring that you can set it by ear
