Identify this part

B2650 left rear axle sesl popped out.
This mangled keeper type clip was sitting on it.

Did it come from inside or fall on it?

Why did the seal come out?

That is a retainer off of a bearing.

That looks sort of like part of a bearing cage (ball separation cage). There is a bearing behind that seal (size 6208?).

The cage is riveted together and (some of) the rivets are highlighted in this picture.

You may be able to get a picture looking in there but I think you have a failed bearing.

Why did the seal come out?

And to answer the second part of your question (in case it's not obvious) the seal was pushed out by pieces of failed bearing.

1. Download the service manual here:

2. See Chapter 3, Rear Axle

3. Separate left rear axle case.

4. Remove left rear axle.

5. Replace bearing and seal.

6. Reassemble.

7. Thank your lucky stars you found this before the bits of bearing did serious damage.

Good luck with the repair. Make sure you find every last piece of that bearing or you'll be looking at a second tear down.
