Boy, these guys can really miss a forecast. We started yesterday in the 6”+ line of snow and it was supposed to start around midnight last night. Didn’t start till 4am got about 2” and now all rain. Just got another alert for significant accumulation but future radar track shows the snow/ rain line pushing well north and rain for the rest of the day. I was gonna plow at lunch but, I don’t look forward to tractor time at 35 degrees and sideways rain. I will pull the rear blade and get the box blade ready for some driveway work this evening

Yeah, we were under a winter storm warning when I went to bed. I got up this morning and we had maybe two inches of snow. The temps are warm enough snow is melting quick, just making a sloppy mess.

They have quickly dropped all the warnings, which was originally supposed to go through till 6PM tonight.

Yet, I would much rather be complaining that they were wrong and we got very little than they were wrong and we got a couple of feet.

This year it seems their accuracy has been off more than normal.

I think that weather forecasting is better than ever. I don't expect to receive perfection for my little back yard. For the weather forecasting folks to see a system half way across the country and tell me it will be in my area at a certain time, dropping an exact amount and at an exact temperature in not reasonable to expect.

We were supposed to get 3-6" between yesterday and tomorrow here. There was about 4" of slush this morning and the temperature is in the mid-40s. The wife and I stopped and ate at Mansfield, OH last night. We were in Cleveland and decided to go home early and beat the storm.

I'm about 75 miles NNE of you. We got pretty much the same forecast, and also the same results.
What fell was so wet that it clogged the snow blower in less than a hundred feet. Used the BX2380 to scrape the rest of the slush off the driveway.

In the days of weather teletypes my high school had a weather club. We had a top of the line weather station on the roof and did hand drawn pressure maps. We were pretty good at short term forecasts but snow amounts were always a crap shoot in the early years.
The teacher left to form a weather company. Jim Witt was a blast to work with. His long range forecast are still the high bar to meet.

" The school rented a second teletype machine which gave us the weather for the entire country. The students would plot up the weather for the entire country. We then received the upper air data. Students would then plot up the upper air and make forecasts based on the movements of the winds aloft. Eventually, the XXXXXXX Weather Program became the most advanced program in the entire United States.

The weatherman on CBC TV in the late 50s-early 60s would write backwards on a wall of glass ACCURATELY showing his, lows, troughs, etc. and FAST too.and LIVE !!.....long before computers, blue screens, heck even colour TV was a theory back them

We had the equivalent in Puerto Rico back then with Lucy Pereda. Her claim to fame was that she could write the forecast or anything else backwards as she talked. But apparently, she attracted viewers for other reasons too.

Yep…I’m just south of you near bald knob (south of 33 near the ski slop)…we had 4” inches this morning and closer I got to Middleburg the more rain snow mix there was…and then rain all afternoon…what a mess the driveway was when I got home from work from the rain…I plowed the slush off as I think it might freeze over tonight…Very little snow left actually due to the rain. Just enough so no muddy paws. 🥃

I cleared the slush after work last night which was three quick passes on the drive and cleared in front of the garage and barn. What sucks is the base is not frozen so you have to be careful not to dig in to the rock. The standing water drained nicely overnight as well. Light dusting this AM for the drive down to CBus. Went up to dinner in Russels Point and it looks like they got a lot less snow than we did and they are 26 miles north of us. We’re down off 347/33. My pup didn’t want anything to do with the slush, just wanted his ride
