First off let me say I am in no way busting anyone race religion or political view, just something I saw at Sam's today. I hate going to Sam's or wallyworld or shopping in general but when they call for your Rx you gota go. So I did some shopping while was there, dumb stuff milk bread, you know that kind of stuff. So I am back getting milk and here is a woman with a couple kids, and out by the cooler they have boxes with fruit and things for like a party. She picks up on with a big shrimp try and another big one with all kind of fruits and off she goes, kids in tow making all those kid sounds. But I digress , 3 isles later there she is the shrimp dish is empty and fruit dish is empty, and she is stuffing the empty plastic boxes, up on a shelf at the back of the store. So I grabbed a blue vest,. and told her, she shrugged her shoulders and said , you are not the first to say something about this kind of behavior, the store wont do anything about it. So there ya have it kids, and that is one more on the list of why I really dont like being around people.

Very sad. The kids will probably grow up to believe that type of thing is acceptable.
But also... I'm confused. Did they eat all the stuff or did she hide it somehow to take with her? Most time those shrimp trays are bought frozen I thought?

From the looks of the fruit juice and the cocktail sauce splattered over them ,I would say they had an all you can eat shrimp and fruit special before the left the store. In Sams they have to coolers with all kinds of stuff that is chilled but ready to eat or pop in the micro wave, lots of veggie trays fruit trays and always a couple shrimp rings ready to eat.

I was at Sam's today and saw one of those big boxes of cookies in the canned goods area, apparently they had their fill of dessert and plopped the remains down and went on their way. To add to the pleasure there was two extremely large, not really fat, "ladies" hollering their nonstop conversation all thru the store and continued it into the parking lot. This rude behavior is becoming the norm.

Not confronting thieves has become the norm in all businesses in my experience.
Company policy.
CVS, Walgreens, Frys Food, Big Lots, antique malls, Cabelas, Ace Hardware, O' Riellys, Safeway, Harbor Freight,
QT, all (3) Dollar stores.... I (or the wife) have either seen it or heard their employees complain about it.
Our local CVS had a guy (white dude, looked like early 40s, drove a pickup) who would come in 2 or 3 times a week, in broad daylight, grab a bag of chips, a bag of candy, and 2 quart bottles of beer and walk out and say to the employees "Touch me and I'll sue."
Hundreds of times.
On camera.
License number recorded.
All they are allowed to do is call the cops, who, of course, do nothing.
After a couple years, it finally stopped..... as he walked by a customer, the thief somehow ran in to the customer's elbow with his forehead, managing to knock himself out.
I doubt he got any justice, but he stopped coming to that store.
And the cops were very interested in that incident on tape, (but not the thievery on tape) but somehow the cameras malfunctioned that day.

And ... All the honest paying customers PAY for this stealing!
The stores just mark everything up a tad so they don't go broke, or they (corporate) close the store before they go broke, so you gotta drive farther to get to a different store, which cost the paying customers more in fuel and time!

I most certainly am not excusing any of what mentioned above…that’s really de-civilization we are witnessing in progress…however, I think politicians and their white collar grifts (and the laws they write to hide behind) are much much bigger problem. I haven’t seen much accountability there either. It’s all very progressive i guess.

It’s nothing new. I worked for a major sporting goods retailer about 15 years ago and they told us during training employees could not intervene during theft.
Although they had a “theft prevention” crew that would basically radio the police with their descriptions after they left the store.
Our local grocery store(WM) used to have a “under cover shopper” that was theft prevention but I haven’t seen him in years.

In the early 70s I managed the hardware department for a (then) major store- groceries, pharmacy, savings & loan, restaurant, and department store all under one roof.
We were encouraged to stop theft, and the store kept a major law firm on retainer to protect it's employees.
We had off duty city cops & sheriff deputies (male & female) in plain clothes as security in the store almost all the time.
I personally chased down & caught 2 purse snatchers, and assisted in catching another.
Lots of theft prevention stuff, but mainly as a witness.
One day the PA announces "Number 53, (me) meet Number 35 (undercover cop) in sporting goods.
Cop explains there are two armed men in the savings and loan lines, with their guns out, loading them.
Back up was 10 minutes out.
After a brief strategy session, I grab a Series 70 from the case, load it, pull off my name tag & tie, and untuck my shirt, and head over there.
We disarmed them, took them both to the ground, cuffed them, and took them to the security office.
Turns out they were just stupid.... they had been drinking all morning, decided to go out shooting, but realized they needed to buy more ammo, so they stopped to pick up some cash. (legally)
They never realized how their actions would look to everyone else, and they were very embarrassed & apologetic.
The crowd cheered & congratulated us for a job well done.
Even though it was completely successful and no one got hurt, I would probably not do anything like that today- the 2 knotheads, their families & all their acquaintances, everyone present in the store, and for a radius of 3 miles around would sue us, all the employees in the store, the store owners, the corporation, the insurance company, the city police, the gun manufacturers, all the witnesses, the handcuff manufacturers, and the floor we dropped them on.

There was not so recent flooding in SE Kentucky in the mountains where entire towns in the valleys were wiped out. I went there with a church group to help dig through the rubble. I was told a story about the local meth heads and opiate users went on a looting spree and law enforcement couldn't deal with them, they were helping with disaster relief. Some locals disappeared the population.
