Here is the ID tag and casting numbers (attached) for my tractor, I need an Input or main shaft,
I have not torn into it much yet but reverse and shaft seem okay.

If any one can help, point me in the right direction?
Same as a L175?

Thanks,

Split My L1500 Today

Finally pulled the pin on starting this aspect of my project tractor, since I know I need an input / main shaft no need to hem haw around.

Took about 2.5 hours, and if this was the hardest part of this job then I am not worried, went surprisingly smooth.
A few things were not in the manual (using a 225DT manual). If you are just doing the clutch it is no big deal,
but for a complete split you need to remove the right foot pad and outer brake pedal to get the hydraulic lines clear.

Was at the local Kubota Dealer yesterday for some parts, he quoted me $1350.00 for a new shaft,
(he promptly gave me a salvage yard name, said "you'd be stupid to spend that"). Saw one on E-Bay, also new for $650.00.
so I am still looking for a lead on a "non-gold" version of this part, good used in other words. Waiting on some internet responses!

Here are some pics of the split.

Hi,

If you could send some more details of what exactly you are looking for (preferable the part itself), I can have a look here in the Netherlands and maybe help you out...

8 speed gearbox w/ 4 speed PTO MANUAL?

I am looking for a manual for the closest US equivalent to a Kubota that has
8 forward speeds and a 4 speed PTO. And I need the transmission section.

I am having a heck of a time getting the main shaft out of my L1500,
and am hoping the correct or closest manual will help.

I anyone can help let me know, either with a few manual pages or insight
if the whole trans has to be dismantled to get at this shaft?

I am using the 225DT manual but with the PTO only being 2 speeds, I think it is hampering just sliding the main shaft out.

Thanks,

Split my L1500 Today - Phase II

Removed the transmission from the rear axle center housing and boy was it a bear,
that must have been a 40+ year old factory seal and did not want to budge
without a lot of serious persuasion.

Some pics below.

Next to remove the trashed input shaft,
Which I have had no luck getting around the
Transmission and PTO gears yet. I see more
dismantling in my future?

Re: 8 speed gearbox w/ 4 speed PTO MANUAL?

billrigsby,
Sadly no similar US model L tractor had a 4 speed PTO, it was strictly a Japanese market thing.
I have a very large collection of Kubota manuals and have yet to find a copy of a real L1500 manual, most are a composite of L185/L225 and others.

Sadly, not what I wanted to hear, but what I expected!
True, I have never seen a L1500 manual, probably exist in Japanese only.

Got My Input Shaft Out

Got the input or main shaft out of my L1500 today, did have to remove the top gear cluster to get her out. She is pretty chewed up, but soon I will have reverse again. Debating weather to change out the bearing and reverse gear while it's apart. Extra cost but? Comments Welcome!

Suggestions on what to flush the transmission with, kerosene, diesel?

Pics attached.............

Bill, In the future, please just keep adding to this thread on your L1500 transmission issue and not making a new thread that every phase.
Makes it a lot easier for others to search and get answers in the future. :)

I use brake parts cleaner on every thing I can get at, gets all the junk out of everywhere. ;)
In a case that I cant drain I would use kerosene.
