I like Orange. The BX2380 is being considered.

Howdy Folks. New guy here. I've got a hankerin for something Orange.

The BX2380 Sub-Compact (among other brands/models) always caught my attention, but I never really "focused" on a do-all as my full-time help. I was younger and ambitious, with friends who could be there with their equipment, to help. Fast forward to the past 6 years. I want to have what it takes to do the heavy and laborious tasks, on my property and ready on a whim.

My credit is in order, the menu (build options) placed before my eyes, and I'm currently in pricing mode.


My wants begin with the BX2380 (Not dead set on that particular model, but I will stay in the sub-compact territory)
Additions to the BX2380 are: Bar Tires, LA340S FEL, Rototiller, 54" Drive-Over Deck w/FT Mulch.

Before you pull the trigger, consider what you want a tractor to do and what you expect of it. Folks often under- buy and then wish they had a bigger tractor. I'm of the mindset that whatever I need, go one size up. At least.
Things to think about:
Are you going to mow with it?
Do you really need a mid mount mower, or will a PTO mower be better suited.
Are you digging/ grading/ moving gravel with the loader?
Look at the implements and attachments you want to use. Will thee ones for your HP and size be enough?

Howdy. Bigger has always been a fancy. GIT'ER DONE, have every implement and attachment there is possible for the need. My current position in a Garden Tractor (minus rear pto) has me with about every goodie I've needed to get the job done on my small homestead. As we age, (At this point in my life) brains before braun is a sensible thing.

I love my BX. It's exactly what I wanted, but I used a TG1860 for 15yrs before buying it, so knew EXACTLY the limitations of a small machine.

Wait until Hagrid weighs in on this thread! (LOL)

Make sure to research ALL SPECS to insure it's exactly to your needs (and future needs)

That's pretty much the rig that I've had for the past two years, minus the roto-tiller. I got a ballast box for use with the loader. Filled it with about 400# of gravel. Works fine. I have a set of clamp on forks for moving brush, unloading the pickup truck, etc.
My 54" deck is the non-driveover. Dealer talked me out of the driveover - said it wasn't all that much of an advantage, considering the price difference.

The 2380 has done all I've asked of it: mowing, plowing snow, moving mulch, gravel, and soil, pulling fence posts. Unless you've got some really heavy work to do, the 2380 oughtta be what you need.

I would also consider the BX 23S… I never regretted a backhoe… My son-in-law, that has a BX23S has never regretted the backhoe either.

yeesh, for $2500 I can buy a LOT of 'used/abused' riders for GRASS cutting......!
I bought the BX23s to dig and haul, NOT cut grass.....heck over 1100 hrs and the backhoe has never been off, 3point hitch kit still i the box. My grass cutter is a 20+ year old Cub Cadet. Have a dedicated 'snow rider' as well.

In hindsite, I should have bought the B2601 series..as I'd be able to borrow neighbour's backhoe. Then again, I'm down to just 1/3 acre so really don't need the BX23S now....

Whatever you buy, get/make install a filter where the fuel goes in !!!!!

I bought the mower - and after 5 hours - took it OFF and BOUGHT another Kubota!!!! any another..... and ............yeah, I know its a terrible disease.

Good day. Maybe I missed it, but I did not see loader mentioned in the OP intro (maybe it was assumed?). I am not sure if SSQA and a loader is standard with a BX or not (it was not when I had a BX) But I would not buy without either the loader or SSQA…if you ever plan to have a loader and or bucket or grapple, I’d buy with the initial purchase and enjoy the capability of the loader and ability to switch to forks with flip of a couple levers. It turned the tractor into a diesel powered wheel barrel / portable hydraulic lift, which for property maintenance is very helpful. It fits a lot of places a larger machine will not and you’ll find more uses for it than you would have imagined. Honestly it should be illegal for a dealer to sell the BX without a loader IMO.

I just purchased today. I posted an image of my additions. I think I'll be more than happy with it. The deck, they steered me away from the drive-over as well.

Once the new toy arrives, I'll have real nice Deere 22 trailer and other related (and x700 specific) items for sale.

I'd be interested in why the BX2380 instead of the BX2680; I'm not sure of the price difference but since you are financing a new tractor finance EVERYTHING.

A lot of people will advise that a FEL and a MMM don't really play well; I'd advise trying to envision which of those attachments means more for your needs. Many will say get the FEL and find a different mowing solution (what's your current mowing solution?) Can't really do any FEL work with an attached MMM, and installing/uninstalling the MMM can be a PITA.

If you really need a rototiller you could get it with the tractor; you may want to consider some sort of ballast solution for the FEL ('ballast box'; rototiller may be rather bulky for that task). You mentioned 'bar tires'; those are generally referred to as R4's, I would suggest getting R14's which are a hybrid newly-developed tractor tire. Unless you can find a 'need' stay away from turf tires.

If you have any plans for winter snow removal usage the R14's will adapt well with chains (a must for winter use). Generally the 23hp & 26hp versions will perform equal work, it's just the 26hp has a little extra when it's called for. Both great tractors, can't go wrong with either. I'd also suggest looking at including a grapple in your purchase (3rd function kit needed with it, total approx $3.5K). Other thoughts could include pallet forks, rear blade(s), snow pusher, snow blower...the list goes on! Try to get to a dealer and personally sit on or try out the various models as well; I can say that I changed my purchase plans during a trip to a dealer and I'm glad I did. Good luck!

I already have a lot of implements and attachments that can be used. Hence my choices in the purchase. I only bought what I needed. We don't get much snow, but I do have a 54" 4-way snow plow, I will design my own mounts and adapt it to work like I have done to others. And, other things will come over time. I'm very mechanical and well rounded in many ways.

I did as much research as was necessary, to know that Deere does not care if I'm a fanboy. No KY supplied and they insisted on thinking I would let them rake me over the stump a second time to buy another. Two different dealers, two forms of rash.

I already have a back blade, box blade, rock rake, aerator, dethatcher, ballast box, boom-pole, wheel-weights, suitcase weights, lawn roller, and two garden trailers..and, I'm sure I'm missing some things. LOL

I used a Deere x739 to it's (almost) fullest potential in the five years I had it. I needed the rear pto ($1100 plus install) and a FEL (4k plus) and a rototiller ($3700), but was not going to invest that coin into a gasser, or a garden tractor for that matter. I said goodbye to Deere all together, and bought the Kubota BX2380 (1880? was the one I wanted years ago, but was not in position to purchase) that's new and improved.

Lifting power is really the biggest downfall.

Most other jobs just have to be done slower, longer or differently and can be achieved as long as you don't set your goals too high.

I'm pretty confident the BX2380 will fill my every need and then some. Compared to the green machine I had used for the five years of ownership, that thing was THIRSTY. I never kept an exact track record, though the average full tank would last 5 hours of 3/4 throttle an above. Not continuous, I would throttle back when able. So from a gocohol standpoint, I expect to experience a hefty savings long term. To also add, Diesel has more torque at a lesser rpm.

Lifting, it will all be more than I can do by hand! Win/Win.
