It is now in 4 wheel drive.... engaged the front wheels and am in 4 wheel drive.
I am now unable to move the lever (stuck) back to 2 wheel drive... to motor is running and I depress the clutch (in neutral) and the lever on the left side will not move... does anyone know how to check this operation? this tractor is new to me!

Two general methods to try
  • Back it up for a bit and see if that takes some tension off
  • Push the bucket down to take the front wheels off the ground and try it

Welcome OP and new Kubota owner to OTT.

Going 4wd to 2wd and vice versa. And Hi - Low or Mid range changes, takes some finesse sometimes. Especially on some vehicles and tractors with a manual transmission. My 1970's Kubota B7100 was easy peezy shifting in or out of 4wd, or Hi - Low range on some days. Other days it was a bitch. My 2021 LX2610 with a new fangled hydro transmission is exactly the same....
Finicky.

For example, my Jeeps shift best into 4wd Low when rolling about 2mph, with no load on the drivetrain (I mean ZERO LOAD), clutch pedal pushed in, and shifted quickly. Trial and error taught me that. Your results may vary.

Unless you have a bigger problem. Which is doubtfull.

To the OP... For what it's worth, (maybe not much). But unless I'm on pavement or hard roads, and or going top speed in High, which is almost never; My Kubota is in 4WD.

Stays in 4WD.

It loves and lives in 4WD.

At least your stuck in 4WD and not 2WD!

Sometimes my M shifts in/out of 4WD effortlessly … sometimes it must be moving at very slow speed (idling-along).… it’s a mechanical engagement/linkage.

Another trick is to turn your front wheels to the left, this seems to take pressure off of the system. to let it shift .
