I came back to my truck this morning after stopping at a grocery store and saw this truck parked next to me. I immediately noticed the fake fender bolts and shook my head in disgust. I'm seeing a lot more $$$ trucks running around with snorkel intakes and I shake my head again. Who are these muppets kidding? I'm supposed to believe that they're going to cross a freakin' river and have water up to their tiny nut sacks in their $100K truck? They're ok with having their carpets soaked, the electronics submerged, the fancy leather seats soaked. Seriously? I've seen people with fake bead lock wheels and again ... why? You're not fooling anybody.

Other fake things I can't stand. Fake cream, fake cheese, fake watches, fake exhausts, fake spoilers (airfoils), fake suppressors, fake breasts, fake eyelashes and fake eyebrows. I know there are more things on my list but that's a good start. 😂😂 Yeah, yeah .... I'm getting old and increasingly intolerant, but I never liked fake stuff when I was young so it's not an age thing.

hay, they're only kidding themselves. Look at it this way, it gives us normals something to talk about !! worst fake things are fake newscasts. That's not political, just an observation.

I always laugh when I see $$$ winches bolted to the front of 'offroad 4x4' cars and trucks. Right, like you're stuck and you want to pull yourself in further to get real STUCK ??

I had one of those, at the time, expensive front mounted winches. I can not count the number of times I extracted a fellow four wheeler from HIS stuck position. Also many times, at least in Wisconsin there was small swampy bogs that needed a winch to cross and continue on my intended route.

Then there was the times that the winch was very useful for moving items from spot to spot, sometimes using a snatch block with an alternate anchor point.

IMHO , a front mount winch is not a "fake" accessory but a very useful tool if used with a bit of smarts and caution.

You cant see the winch cable in the picture but I was winching out a Dodge 4 x 4 pickup with an in-experienced off roader.

Actually, I'd advise a winch as the first upgrade to any off-road vehicle and have done just that many times. I've been off-roading for many decades and you can get stuck with a good lift, good tires, lockers and more, but if you have a winch you can get out of situations that you simply wouldn't be able to without the winch. Add in some shackles, a snatch block or tow and tow straps and you can get out of just about anything.

And a Hi-lift jack! :). The real deal and not a cheap knock off.

Yep, I've had one of those for decades too. I plan on buying another to keep with either truck. Currently I move the one I have to whatever vehicle I'm driving. Before I got a tractor I used a Hi-Lift jack to pull a hundred or so t-posts. Hard work but effective.

Oh how I can relate to being less tolerant of stupid shit! My 17 year old grandson told me that age is a "cranky meter" and I am am in the upper part of the range. And I love it! The term "get off my lawn" comes to mind, sometimes modified a little.

RWS is that your winch? Or your wench?🤔

I do believe, either way, that you need glasses—those don’t appear to be bolt ons…

I can pretty much guarantee she's as flat as Sunday pancakes if non-enhanced. I like pancakes, so for me it's no problem.

Personally, I don't want plastic in my drinking water, winch, or woman. I don't eat off plastic plates or use a plastic cup.

And I'd rather have the real deal than nipples pointing off into space due to artificial blobials.

Although it looks like it would be a ton of fun to go join up with Fabrats or Matt, offroading isn't something I've gotten into. I've always had something 4WD and different winches since around 1970. For the last few decades I could have survived without either, but it the old "once you have it......" mentality. My first couple of winches were on the front - just sort of the default. In the early 90's I mounted an 8274 in the bed of the company 4WD Silverado. Then front again on a Wrangler and finally a Warn 9000 in a cradle. I added a front receiver on the Trailblazer to make it "bi-winchual". This is nice for me because I usually know when there will be a need for the winch and I can toss it in the back. It's kept in the garage out of the weather.

I used the bed-mounted winch in the Chevy to get myself out one time when the only parking at a farm auction was in deep snow. That was the only time I had to self-recover. I have used winches to free others, to drag a few logs, to encourage trees to fall in the direction they needed to, and other useful applications. I once teamed up with another fellow with a winch to retrieve his bud's truck from a sandbar in the Susquehanna river. No fish were harmed.

Sometimes I ask myself why it should matter to me when I see a tricked out 4X4 with a winch, traction boards that look new, assorted (and likely empty) RotopaX cans on the sides and the HiLift jack* fastened across the hood.

*Note - When you weigh 270# it is possible to break an official HiLift jack if you abuse it sufficiently:(

Until it was used to lift the corner of a storage shed to get it shimmed up I thought it was indestructible. One of the holes in the upright didn't survive the fight.
