I just got back from AZ, HOT HOT HOT, 108f was the high, low was 80f only on the last day, and all other days were 90f plus.

Well it's 51f here this morning, and yep it feels chilly, but I'm happy! :D

That popped up on my phone alert and I had to remind myself that it was AUGUST!!! What happened to summer? Have had the AC on only 2 times. The wind has not stopped, have some high ladder maintenance to do on the barn and can't catch a break. Seems like I just took the chains off.

The humidity has been killing us here but it's been dry, only one storm that dropped 2 inches of rain in less than 24 hours. Looks like it's gonna cool off later in the week so I may be able to get the painting done that I've been putting off. Still better than snow.

The metric system was introduced here in Canada in 1970 to the disappointment of many so some of us older udder fella's can go either way  so to speak.

1975 or 1976. If i recall corretcly.
I'll have to look it up but for some reason I thought it was 70 or 71 not that it really matters now however it sure wouldn't hurt my feelings if they were to change it back.

I remember when Carter pushed that for US and several states put up dual road signs. Of course it died quickly and now I only know of one sign left.

I remember specifically, when I was in 6th grade, our teachers telling us to get used to it, the change to metric is going to happen whether we want it or not.

I'm still waiting.:D

Yup.....It was about then for me too.....

and those that "work" with the metric system.....understand HOW @##@#$#$ stupid the imperial system is.....

I tell my kids in the shop class how some brilliant king decided on the "foot" to be that long, that was fine....

then THAT genius decided to break it up into a nice number.....o let me see, what say 12???? Brilliant !!!!!

then to make matters a hellva lot worse.....

lets take those unit of 1/12.....and divide that into another wonderful unit.....

16 parts!!!! Brilliant touche!!!

and the sad part is .....a french man several hundred years ago......had a thought...and fix that!

BUT noooooooooooo - we americans and two small little itty bitty countries still think it is smart to use that system!

Now - imagine a teacher describing all that with wit and comedy!!! :D:)

Yeah I think it was the car industry that blocked the transition. From my perspective it was idiocy.. Metric is so much easier. And the idea that we need two sets of tools

I remember when they first changed over all the street signs were both and for the longest time at the grocery store they had both. Even now the 2017 truck speedo of mine still has miles per hour and km's.

May be a good system but when your biggest trading partner (the US) uses imperial you stick with it. We are the only place in the world you can buy a 4 by 8 sheet of plywood 12 mm thick. Has caused no end of confusion over the years.

Of note, when CDN tire has tape measures on sale the imperial ones sell out - the dual imperial/metric don't and I don't think I have ever seen a metric only for sale there.

I was in Ketchikan last week: 78F with no appreciable rain for some time. the rain forest up there is getting really dry and the locals are really worried about fire issues. Hopefully, they will get some rain or snow soon as Fall is right around their corner.
