Since I have been going over the B I thought I would ask some questions. I have noticed on the ROPS, factory holes and I can find nothing on line for what purpose they serve, they are not weep holes but look like maybe 3/8. Its funny I saw them last night for the first time.

Through holes? Or on one face only? Where are they located relative to the bend point?

My first guess would be for mounting lights.

My LX2610 has a set of through holes both in the lower and upper ROPS sections. I assumed they were for mounting lights also so people don't drill through the ROPS.

Well, I declare. Kubota engineers decided it's OK to drill holes in the ROPS? I sure hope those things don't fail.

Ohhh you so funny,,, You of all people know that the ROPS were designed like that, and were tested to comply with US safety standards. I wont go into my past life, but we know what happens when those things go sideways.
OK I kind of figured lights or maybe a sun shade.

You can actually drill a number of holes, fairly big along the length of the ROPS without compromising it for safety. ROPS is a 'boxed truss' so essentially no diferent than any floor or ceiling truss, or car frame. There's some 'math' involved to 'know the limits' of course......that can be found using Google.

FWIW, I drilled a couple of small holes in the Ford ROP to mount some holders. Dry sand started running out. I guess they put it in to assist in bending the tube and leave it in. I don't know if it increases strength, reduces noise, or ?

It's the lawyers rather than the engineers who specify "no" holes in ROPS.

SDT, who is both (retired)

That’s where I mounted my lights and brought the wiring out the holes below them.

I drilled and pem-nutted mine for the holes I needed.

Funny how people get about the ROPS. It is bent, it is welded, it is drilled ALL before you ever get it. Use the math, it will rarely let you down.

All OTT threads eventually devolve into ROPS lights threads, this is proof. :geek:

Do you know what size thread they are?
If you’re talking to me I’m thinking 3/8” possibly 7/16” , there are no threads straight through holes.
