I have a B7100hst with about 2000hrs. I have been having some clutch disc problems so I had the tractor split. The tech found the upper part of the bell housing was bent and cracked. I think to much weight in the loader and in the weight box just bent it in the middle.

Ouch that hurts. Sorry to hear about your tractor. What model loader is on the b7100? Does the loader have a subframe that goes from the sides of the engine all the way back to the rear axles?
Tractors that crack in the center are not common. You hear stories on the forums about cracking like this from using a backhoe that mounts on the three point hitch instead of a frame mount.
You should be able to find a used replacement without much trouble.

Wow, bummer! How about some pics? As stated by kubotasam, at least parts should be readily available.

These smaller tractors really do require a sub frame when doing loader work. When I got mine in "85" and put a backhoe on the back I quickly determined that it needed support as I broke the top three bolts at the top of the bell housing. All that was available in Canada at the time was the tractor and mower so the dealer was not well versed as to what was required. Because of this both my loader and hoe are other brands that were adapted by the dealer for the tractor. I spent a winter fabbing up a complete upper and lower sub frame that also incorporates the top link. The hoe was originally just attached to the 3 pt. hitch but is now firmly on the frame and considerably closer to the tractor. I installed power steering at the same time.

Ouch, so sorry about your tractor.

I'd sure like to know the definitive cause of this.

Re: I bent my tractor

How much weight do you think you carry in the ballast box?
What make, model of loader is it?

I don't have manufacturer of the buck, (it is three letters) very heavy duty 48" and deep. Weight of the box about 500 lbs, it make it easer to steer . The tech is planning to straighten, add reinforcement from the sub frame to tractor and bell housing.

Once upon a time I found that all of those bolts on my old L185 were loose! Someone had borrowed the tractor so I don't know what he did to cause that. I wonder if yours could have been loose, as a contributing factor in the break?
