Please Help - Hydrostatic issue
Hello all. I just recently purchased a 96/97 G2000 with 800 hrs. Everything about it looks great. the engine is in great shape and runs very well - stored in garage for its entire life. Anyway, after a few times of driving and figuring out how everything operates i realized the hydrostat was a little stiff. (first time owner of a mower with hydraulics). Brake barely slows down the tractor. the deck raises but over time it lowers back down, the speed lever does not keep a constant speed and the drive peddle is very stiff.
I'm praying some of you have ideas other than having the entire hydrostat replaced. I don't have the money to deal with that. is it possible i just have air in the system?? can i bleed it like a brake line? Paid 1400 for it so if worst comes to worst putting in a new hydrostat wouldn't be the worst thing. but i'm hoping there are some trouble shooting options before i take the plunge. I don't have service manuals so i'm hoping you guys may know so routes to take.
Thanks!
