Hi all
I am the new owner of a BX1880. I traded my BX1500 for it. I like the tractor but compared to my BX1500 the hydra pump is quite a bit louder. Everything works fine but its quite noticeable. Is mine unique or is this normal?
Thanks

Congrats.

Your issue is a fairly common complaint about Kubota HST tractors especially when running in high range. Give your machine the once over and check all fluid levels (including front diff/axle). Some people have noticed a decrease HST whine after changing the fluid to SUDT2. I'm not sure if all dealers use it when they prep the machine.

You may find the noise diminishes a bit over time - or maybe you just get used to it. The level also seems to drop a bit as the tractor warms. I seem to experience less noise in low range and more in high.

The higher the gear ratio, the more torque it takes to move, ergo, the more force on the oil. This will make any hydraulic pump howl. As the fluid gets hotter, it has less torque available because the viscosity drops, which will make it sound better. Cold fluid, cold pumps, lotsa noise.

I give my BX a work out a couple days ago and noticed it had gotten louder just sitting there idling, not the motor but the hydraulics. When the hydraulics get hot does it create more noise as it’s pumping, circulating? I was working it pretty good digging and scraping, it now has 20 hours on it and all but the last 5-6 hours has been easy work.

BX HSTs are particularly loud, just the nature of them. SUDT2 may quiet it down some during your next service.
