My 2 L series and my MX series all say every 400 hours for fluid replacement, I also consider the number of years and will not go past 5 or 6 years without changing the fluid, irrespective of the number of hours on the tractor.

I wonder why Kubota has different hours for different tractor series, any thoughts?
Maybe it's because the M series is considered a utility/farm tractor and is worked differently than CUTS and SCUTS? That's just a guess.
I average 150-200 hrs /year so it all gets changed in 3-5 years

OR maybe their recommendation has changed over the years?

If the new intervals are longer, it's likely to comply with EPA regs for the projected total petroleum usage over the lifetime of the vehicle.

I'd guess and say it's because of the amount of fluid required. My L3000 only holds 8 gallons and is listed at 400 hrs. My M9000 holds 22 gallon s and is listed at 600 hrs.

Flip, according to the manual, your M9's have a 600 hr interval on hydro fluid change too.
Do you change it then or at 400?

Changed it at 50 and then again at 500 but I did an oil analysis at 500 and it came back all good so I ran it to 1500 and changed again and that is where it is now. I immediately changed everything on the open station as soon as I got it. looked like it had nasty JD Hytrans it it so it got Rotella HD last summer. I'll change both at the same time now probably at 2500 on the cab and 6 on the open station. Always filter changed too.

The open station gets mothballed all winter, only the cab tractor gets run, for snow duty. I kind of go by oil analysis 25 bucks is chump change when dumping 3 5 gallon pails in each tractor.

Give the open station a good shot of biocide and pull out the starting battery.

This is the service interval page from the Kubota manual. It states 600hrs for hydro fluid changes.
Why is everyone only going to 400 hrs?
Part of it probably has to do with the transmission used in the tractor. Hydrostats probably use a different interval than the various great drive options.

My initial thought in response to that question is that between our machines' differing HP, hydraulic pumps and HST tranny sizes, and their fluid capacities too, that is all in the mix when they calculate the fluid's longevity. I am also guessing that tests are done with loaded systems running those hours, and oil quality testing to monitor its health.
