Question for you all. New to the orange world. I would like to add a hydraulic upper link to my M4-D. Would you all recommend/send over a few links to hydraulic uppers that will fit, please.

I’ve heard the 2.5in bore size is the bigger/better version.

I have a no till drill that’s pretty heavy. So, I would prefer the bigger bore size.

Would also like to have one with a check valve.
Thanks for your help.

Make sure you get enough stroke length to match your existing top link. Fit-Rite hydraulics makes a nice TNT kit but they have a long lead time and are pricey.

I typically provide 3" dia cylinders with 1 1/2" dia rods for your model. It would have a working length of
20 1/4"- 29 1/4". You will not find this anywhere other than from Fit Rite Hydraulics, but maybe you can find something close?

That gives you something to compare to if you are looking for an off the shelf unit.

I am not a fan of the check valves, but can provide them if-when needed.

Thank you for the replies. I would really like one in the near future. TNT looks great, however, the lead time is longer than I would like.

what are the negatives of check valves?

A check valve eliminates the possibility of using the float feature if you happen to have it.

Some people figure no big deal. Most that have made use of the a float featured valve would not be without it. I am one of those people.

As far as lead times, there is a good reason for that. The availability of these units with optimum working lengths for both top & side links are few and far between.

Also keep in mind that the tractor end is only 1 3/4" wide with a 3/4" pin and the implement end should be a 1" pin, but only 1 3/4" wide allowing you to use both cat 1 implements with a reducer bushing and cat 2 implements.

Good luck with your search. (y)

Thanks for the info and the heads up on the float feature. I better get a better understanding of that float feature before I rule out the possibility of using it with having the check valve.

you are correct when talking about the tractor end being smaller than the implement e need that is honestly what led me to here for suggestions and help.

i am in need of the top link only. Is there a shorter lead time for one of those?

No, when a payment is made, really what you are doing is getting a time slot. The time difference would be a few hours at best.

When I decided I wanted to do a top cylinder, I ordered right away due to the lead time. It wasn’t critical, so I was able to wait. During that time, I started figuring out how I wanted to do my rear remotes. When the cylinder finally arrived (inline with quoted lead time) I wasnallceeadynto drop it in and rally.
FitRite cylinders are a thing of beauty. Buy with confidence!

Don't have float on my 640 Ford, but didn't know just how handy it is for a variety of implements.
Got check valve, so with my setup it's a winner.
