Hello, I am installing an aftermarket front loader on my L2950.
The picture in the manual of the hydraulic block shows 3 ports marked in, out, and tank.
The dual spool valve has ports marked N, T, and P.
Could someone please direct me as far as what goes where to make a successful installation?
Also, the lines from the cylinders, although I guess I could figure that out by trial and error.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

  1. OUT on hydrsulic block goes to the P port on the valve
  2. IN on hydraulic block goes to the N port on the valve. You must install a power beyond sleeve in the N port prior to making the connection. Did you buy it with the valve?
  3. TANK on hydraulic block goes to T port on valve.

Thank you for helping me figure this out. I thought those were the connections but I didn't have any idea about the power beyond sleeve. I've never heard of that before.
Could you please explain and any suggestions on where I can purchase one?
After reading your message I called the local Kubota dealer and the parts guy said he didn't know, he said maybe if I bought an entire valve for the loader.
Is this part specific to each tractor or is there a generic part I can plumb into the line? What does it do?
Sorry for so many questions.

There are no dumb questions. We aregoing to need to know more about the valve. Sounds like it might be one of the P40 type being sold everywhere online. Post a picture or teo of the vslve.

The valve is made by Vevor. I looked all over it and couldn't find a model number. I will try to post a picture.
I've been trying to learn what I can about power beyond sleeves. Watched a video presentation by hydraulic supermarket. Good video but made my head hurt. The old saying about teaching old dogs new tricks came to mind

Ohhh my. Do you know what the threads in those valve ports are,? Almost surely not NPT.

I think you better stop right here and get some guidance. From whom did you buy the valve and did the y give you an instruction or data sheet?

This type of fitting is what you need for that valve - not ordinary pipe fittings from your hardware store.

From your response it doesn't sound good. I looked at the specs on line and it says British standard parallel pipe on in/out ports.
I threaded in 1/2" pipe thread and it seems to thread in OK.
I left a message on their support line and it said they would get back to me.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Let me give you a piece of free advice - ask your questions here and not at VEVOR cudtomer support.

Yes its British Stabdard Parallel Pipe (BSPP) which is different fron NPT used in this counyry. The threads are not compatible

Good news is thats the tank port which is very low pressure so you should be OK with the correct fittings Take one of the steel plugs out - thats what the correct fittings look like.

Next question is where are you getting your hoses and have you bought them yet?

I've bought 2 hoses with the 1/2" male NPT.

I bought the hoses from the local hydraulic shop.
You can use 1/2" hose if you want put its overkill - 3/8" iz plenty and a lot easier to deal with.

Here is a power beyond sleeve tgst will likely wofk in your Vevor valve

It goes in the N port in place of the steel plug. The hose then connects to the female port in the dleeve. Thst port is not BSPP - it is oring boss.

I can help you with the adapters you will need but first you have to decide on type and size of your hose. I would reccomend these for price, quality, and ease of installation. They are off the shelf assemblies and come in increments of "
6" in length. Even with shipping the price is very
hard to beat.

Discount Hydraulic Hose is s little too pticry on BSPP fittings for my taste. We talk about that when yoi decide on the hose issue.

The original hoses on the Paulson loader were all 1/2 inch and the fittings are 1/2" female NPT
I would like to replace all the original 1/2 " lines they're showing their age. If 3/8 will work as well they would need the 1/2" male pipe thread.

The fittings on the tractors hydraulic block are #6 JIC.
The fittings, according to their information, on the chinese control valve are BSPP.
I removed the plug at the port marked N.
I have already installed the NPT male fittings into the vevor valve with Teflonpipe dope. They seemed to thread in fine and tightened down.
Should I remove them?
I would like to proceed in the most economical and intelligent way possible.
Please advise.

I would use the 3/8" hoses I linked and 1/2" male or female NPT to 1/2" male JIC adapters (2404-08-8 or 2405-08-08) on all the loader hoses.

The adapters will effectively be "permanently" installed in the loader pipes with a thread sealant. Do not use sealant on the JIC connections. Consider it a modernization of the old Paulson loader. Did it come off an old Ford?

Your valve fittings are missmatched and incompatible thread types. The port thread is a Whitworth form with 55 vs 60 degree flank angles and the 3/8" ports are 19 TPI vs 18 TPI on the NPT fittings. They tighten but will not seal correctly. NPT is leaky by nature and this just makes it worse.

How did you determine the outlet block was #6 JIC. That seems highly unlikely. JIC is a UNF thread form for flare fittings and rarely used for female ports and #6 is awfully small. I would expect 3/8 BSPP there as well. Thats what Kubota used on other models of that vintage that had similar outlet blocks.

I think my opinion is pretty clear but its your tractor and you have to decide.

The local hydraulic shop that made the hoses told me it was JIC. I brought them one of the old hoses. The kid that works there is not very knowledgeable but it did thread right on.
The fittings are male on both ends and threaded into the block from the previous installation.
I thought they said JIC6 but they may have said 8.
Could the fittings be BSPP TO JIC?
I will investigate tomorrow when I can try to provide accurate information.

I will go out on a limb and categorically state the ports on the yractor hydrauluc outlet blovk are not JIC of any size.

The port is most likely BSPP female and the factory plug looks like its probably BSPT. That is a legitimate combination and consistent with Kubota's known past practice.

A proper adapter would be BSPP or BSPT to a US thread. By now it should be clear I believe JIC is vastly superior to NPT for all hydraulic hose and tube connections. It's easier to assemble, seals without thread sealant, and far easier to service going forward. That is also the path Kubota has used for a couple decades now.

Given the factory plug is likely BSPT I would opt for a male BSPT to male JIC adapter like this.

I believe you are correct. They look like the picture you attached. I agree it would be superior without the sealant.
How does one go about determining the size of a JIC fitting?
